about christian video games, it made me realize that there probably isn't a single christian video game out there that really is any good.

This also got me to thinking, we should brain storm idea's for a christian video game that would be clean (no extreme gore, blood, guts, pointless murdering, etc) with christian morals. This is a very good market to tap into since there really isn't much competition in this market.

Depending on how well this goes and if we decide to start putting something together in flash with a team, this could be moved to the 'Flash & Game Development' forum at a later point.

Bible Games for the NES is probably the most horrible game ever made.
Like the idea though.

Christian music wasn't a very successful Genre years ago but it's gaining popularity. Who knows, Christian video games may rise in popularity someday in the same way. Either way, there are surprisingly good parents out there still who wont allow their children to play games like GTA, those same parents most likely would be willing to pick up a Christian game for their child.

I find it funny how Adam Sessler made comments in that article.

That's the problem, most parents now days dont want to be a parent but would rather be their childs friend, so they'll do anything to get on their kid's good side.

I've seen many parents buy GTA for their kids, some knew about the violence in the game, others had no idea what the game was about. 14 is still to young, I'd say 17 at least.

But the things with parents is, if your not a christian parent, then why would you get a christian game for your child?

If my son was mature enough, i'd probly get him (well, moreso for me ) GTA. The thing is, how can you make the bible appealing to kids or teens.
Music these days its not so hard, theres christian music in just about every genre, so its quite a wide variaty.

How could you make a game play relate to the bible?
You could maybe be on a quest to find chapters of the bible.

You can focus on certain bible events...

Take King David for instance, could have a game based on him, have a battle where you play has David and fight against Goliath. King David also fought with Goliath's sword, which was a massive sword, picture David resembling Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7, carrying a sword probably bigger than him...and King David fought many battles, so a game where your King David, HUGE massive sword fighting the battles he fought, as long as the gore was kept down a bit I think it'd be morally accepted, especially since the bible does go into great detail on some of the battles.

90% of people in America are Christian, I think it's less than 10% in Australia but USA still has Christianity in it, still the highest Christian population in the world.


Also a game wouldn't necessarily have to be completely based on the bible, it could be any ordinary game with small christian influences on it. For instance, a game where the main character is christian or a church has a big role in the game. Possibilities are endless but an Christian RPG seems like it'd have endless possibilities.

Or you could be samson and brutaly take down armys with your bare hands!!
Dont fully remember story of samson, just his hair gave him strength of 10 men.

I remember most of the bible stories, I've read through about 75% of the bible at one point, memory is starting to fade now though. But yeah, Samson is another perfect idea, there was one point where these people were trying to capture him and he killed 1000 (or maybe it was 100) men with the jawbone of a donkey...now imagine how gory that would be

If only we could pass that as a christian game. =P

It could be passed as a mature christian game...Passion of christ was gory and I've seen other christian movies that were gory.

Only way to see if it can be done is to go ahead and do it :p

What would make it christian game thou. Is a game that dosnt have violence, and dosnt break christian rules, is that still almost classified as a christian game, even thou it has no biblical reference, but the same morals?

Bigbob: If a game has no violence and doesn't break christian rules, that just makes it a game that isn't bad but that doesn't make it a christian game. And christian games can involve some violence since the bible does and goes into details. People like Samson, Elijah and King David brutally killed many people.

But if you made a game about destroying as many isrelites as you can in 30 seconds.. people may not like it (heavy non-gaming christians will think it sends the wrong idea). On the other hand, I think it would be awesome.

Well I wasn't talking about a game where you kill israelites.

A game where you play as King David and have to fight/kill goliath would be pretty cool and than after that "boss" battle the rest of the game revolves around ordering your troops and fighting along side of them to take out other armies. It'd all be biblical so it wouldn't immoral, just as long as it isn't detailed with the gore, and even if it was a little bit, one of the most goriest movies I've ever seen was 'Passion of the Christ'.

Well, David, there is an exact game where you can fight Goliath. The only problem? It has a massive virus. Just goes to show, when you wanna play a good Christian game, it'll kill your computer.

hmm... i'd have to say that the idea of a Christian game is good, brilliant even. and like others have stated, their are no real good games of that nature available. And oddly, as much as i hate to voice it, I kinda blame the organized church for it. In one shape or another at anyrate.

I dont know, its just that like, TBN (Trinity Broad Casting Network) for instance. All they ever do is whine and complain about how horrible and wrong that is, and that too, and that over their.... how the youth dont want anything to do with God, etc etc.

But i think the industry is one that can and hopefully will rise in popularity.
I Think a good example of such a thing is Christian music. For years Christian "Rock" and heaven forbid andything out of the main stream, was highly frowned upon by Christian society. But within the last 10 years or so, some very hardcore Christian bands have came out. HardCore with their beliefes, and music.

I'd Gladly support any ideas and what not for a Christian game. I think it would definitely be something worth pursuing. And just like the beginnings of Christian metal/HxC, all it needs is a few good pioneers.
