I'd have to say RPG is my 1st choice simply because the game lasts longer than a platform; but I do get bored sometimes with the RPGs especially when it's the type were you hit a random battle every 5 seconds, so I'll switch off between the 2.

KlawedFlaw : Actraiser rocks. I actually enjoyed the platforming more because I had to earn my way up to it planning cities, and building your city better meant leveling up, which meant you were more powerful in the platforming sections. A great game all around. Shame they ruined the sequel.
