I don't think they'll ever change Ash's level of maturity. If they had any intentions of doing so, then they would have several seasons ago. The fact that he's still immature shows that they're committed to keeping his attitude the way it is for the long haul.

I have a feeling when they do a fresh reboot of the series (we all know it's going to happen at some point), they'll make Ash grow up.  I think it will be kinda similar to how the kids in Digimon grew up, only Ash will probably be a full fledged adult.

I don't think Ash will ever change. But that's what helps draw the younger audience is the fact that Ash acts his own forever-10-year-old age. It helps the younger ones associate with him better.
