As some of you may have heard, I've been in a long-distance/online relationship for the past few months. I've been talking to him every day for about seven months now. That includes MSN, on the phone, but mostly on Skype video calls. He has sent me presents in the mail as well. The intellectual/emotional connection is definitely there. I've never felt this way about someone before, and we haven't even been in the same room yet. :o

Today, he is flying all the way from Michigan to come visit me for 2 weeks. He will be here in about six hours (I think).

It feels strange to call him my "boyfriend"... I don't really like that word; he is not a boy and we are more than just friends. I think I prefer "partner".

I just had to make a thread about it because I am so excited!

thenumberone : My parents are very trusting of me, plus they have talked with him a little bit on Skype before. They know I can take care of myself and would not waste 7 months talking to a loser/creep. He is going to stay in the suite we have attached to our house, which is kind of like a second house except nobody lives there right now. Super convenient.

A few months ago, I didn't even think of them as real "relationships".  But I've tried it (NOT on vizzed, vizzed is like a working place to me and I don't do such things on my work) a few months ago. Well, I can't say I liked it much. Because, as you said you can't call him a boyfriend, since you've never even been in the same room in real life. Also for me there wasn't the possibility of seeing each other in real life, due to the huge distance =/  Your situation is way better though, because you can meet each other in real life, which is awesome.

UserMike : My parents don't want renters here since we have bad experiences in the past, plus it is disruptive/distracting to our family life to share this house with someone who isn't immediate family. Hopefully I will be moving into that space once I get a job and can pay my mom some rent.
