Now, I've wanted to ask these questions to you guys for a while. Personally, I'm an atheist. I have trouble believing anything that doesn't have solid proof. I question everything. How someone can follow a religion of any kind is beyond me, which is why I want to ask:

Why are you a christian?

What exactly made you a christian?

Why is christianity more plausible to you than other religions or theories?

How much does your faith influence other parts of your life?

Think of it as a chance to inform this little non-believer here.

Why are you a christian?
Im not

What exactly made you a christian?
I dont believe that no one man, even if he is immortal and a 'god' could create everything. We deserve some credit too.

Why is christianity more plausible to you than other religions or theories?
It isn't, infact its almost one of the most misinforming religions out there, so many questions with so few answers.

How much does your faith influence other parts of your life?
Entirely, everything we do affects everything that happens. Not because God made it happen...

Not to say that there is no God, just that there is more than one, i like to think of them more as Referees in the game of life... watching... not much else...

If you want all of the answers to all the questions, read the bible. Now, if you read it, understand it and believe everything it says is true than your well on your way to becoming a Christian.

(My point? How many times do you think the bible has changed in the last 2000 years... especially before conventional methods of writing was developed and even more especially since it wasnt written in english.)

Why are you a christian?
Because I put faith in and belived and found something that I've never found before.. ANYWHERE..

What exactly made you a christian?
Ahh.. this is kinda the same as the first answer.

Why is christianity more plausible to you than other religions or theories?
Lol.. Scientology..
Nothing makes it any more plausible, its just one of them things you have to step out in faith and you will find out what its all about.

How much does your faith influence other parts of your life?
Although I might not be a 'christian' christian it still reflects in my life. Can anyone here say im not a genuine nice person in every way? Not to say thats all from being christian.

The most accurate version of the bible in english is the King James version (Or so I belive). The problem with them is the language used is no longer used.

Wikipedia
"As Hebrew and Greek, the original languages of the Bible, have idioms and concepts not easily translated, there is an on going critical tension about whether it is better to give a word for word translation or to give a translation that gives a parallel idiom in the target language."

i suppose you did always do what you could do help others... i remember certain people who wont forget you... But, that doesnt mean religion changed you. People have the will do do anything, to change themselves to whatever they want.

I believe in Christ like I believe in the sunrise, not only do I see it, but by it I see all things.

I am a Christian because I've read a lot of the bible and that is how I was raised... going to church. The simple fact that Christianity is passed down from parents to child is one of the things that raises my eyebrows most about it. However when you get down too it we pretty much get everything there is too get from our parents. Just because ones parents are democrats doesn't mean that being a democrat is wrong... also it doesn't mean you are a sheep following mindlessly. Anyways I hope I'm not a sheep like I hope I'm not that ugly.

As far as comparing it to other religions or theories... I think everyone can agree that is more than this physical world. Richard Dawkins would disagree. If you want to get into the historicity of Jesus Christ that is another whole bag of worms. However as far as knowing anything that happened 2k years ago Christ is probably the most assured thing. People now days are starting to question if he actually existed... but it seems like people would question that 1900 years ago. Anyways Historians agree that Jesus Christ did exist and in 3 of the major religions he plays a part. Well thats all I'm saying for now.

As far as how much it influences my life... well some people go to the bars and look for their lay, some people go to the school dances and look for their woman... personally I plan to walk into a church and find my wife. I think it plays a large part as far as your friends (brotherhood) significant other are concerned.

Ahh sigh, I may come back in a couple months to see where this thread has gone.
