A geek? I'm not sure if I would call myself that... I actually earn a pretty good rep at school (at least I think I do) so I wouldn't want to think myself as a geek. Not necessarily with the negative connotation that accompanies it, at least.

If you put it that way, then I guess you can say I'm a geek. I love a lot of things having to do with computers and science, not to mention I play quite a few video games.

I'd love to be more of a geek and concentrate on grades more but I think im more neutral I like to fill up as much time as possible i hate doing nothing, so if im not going out or talking to people on facebook ill be on vizzed, playing games, researching random stuff or looking for jobs.

It's fun being the bad dog, but it really sucks being one, because your reputation goes in the gutter the moment you become one, so I didn't pick that path. =/

The classical breakdown of the Nerd/Geek/Dork stereotypes is as follows (note that many people fall into more than one category):

Nerds: The academic ones. They get good grades, like big words, and often like reading/writing.
Geeks: They know an awful lot of information about specific things (comic books, video games, anime, computers, etc). The more things they know.
Dorks: The socially inept... think Napoleon Dynamite. That is a dork.

I am both a nerd and a geek. My geekdom falls on the strongly nerdy side, since it involves fantasy gaming like Dungeons & Dragons, but I also know a fair bit about comic books, anime, |337, etc etc. I take pride in my nerdiness, because I realized long ago that when people call you things like nerd or geek in an attempt to insult you, what they are really doing is admitting that they are jealous that you are smarter than they are.

I am fairly certain that the majority of people on this board are some blend of nerd/geek or geek/dork.

Also keep in mind that these categories are not exclusive. One of my friends in high school was a major nerd/geek but also the quarterback of the varsity football team and point guard of the varsity basketball team.

I think you should have more options on your poll. In any case. Like Elara said, most people will fall into more than one category. Out of the ones that she listed I would fall primarily into the geek category as I spend most of my time playing games and watching cartoons and such on the computer. But if someone asked me, I could go outside and play some sports for a bit as well so I'm not completely and utterly unathletic either. I like big words, but I don't get the best grades if you catch my drift and I don't really enjoy anything about school. It's just something that you have to do. If I wasn't required to I would still go because otherwise I would have to settle for a crappy job. But I'm not a dork. I do have a fair degree of social skills. I know what I should and shouldn't say around certain types of people. I don't go running my mouth about rpgs cartoons and that kind of stuff to "cool or normal" kids and I don't talk about things that people aren't interested in. I.E if someone doesn't like anime then I won't talk to them about it at all. And I don't talk to the borderline insane anime-loving friends about sports and other stuff that they don't care about like jersey shore (which I do NOT watch.)
