I always wondered this. What do you guys think?

I think God is genderless. He is a spirit and not a physical being. In the Bible he is referenced as father, so male.

In my mind, God has no gender, no race, nothing like that. It's more like a spirit.
Bible names Him as Father, but keep in mind that Bible was mostly written during an era, when there used be patriarchy, and women were used as if they were "things" or property of men. So it's not a surprise that they wanted God to be presented as male.
As a Christian, I have God in my mind as a male, when I pray. But if I look at this issue from a more distant and unbiased point of view, I think God could be considered as genderless. Because God is something that should make people to come close to each other and feel like brothers and sisters, and not someone, who would be used as an excuse for fights, wars and discriminations.

Anyway, keep in mind that this is just my opinion, I don't claim it's the right one.

Not to make myself seem smart, but a lot of the questions in this forum can be answered by simply reading the Bible. In the Bible, God is referred to as "He". He is also God the Father. His Son (being the same being) Jesus was a man on earth. He was also God, but that is a different story. In Genesis, the Bible says God created man in his own image, making it seem that God is male.  Also, he is more of a spirit and does not have a race, considering man had no race when Adam was first created.

I'd hate to see someone turn away from there religion just because of gender or race.
I remember on an episode of American Dad a group of Arabians turned on god because Steve told them god was a woman 
If god wanted gender or race to affect are views of him/her he/she would have made it more clear that he was a man/woman



I personally see god as  man but still think of him as my mother and father (god did create me)

Gods may have no gender, but like everybody else said, in the bible, they call it "father" so its a male, as for race, there isn't any clue what he is, but that doesn't matter, there is no difference.

I do agree with what the others have said, stating that God is genderless but still referred to as Father. I just have another way of explaining it at least. Now this is coming from a controversial book, but the point that I am stating here is something I find fascinating. In the book, The Shack, God presents Himself as an African-American woman, but has the main character call Him Papa. This is to explain that God is not supposed to be what we stereotype Him as --which we stereotype Him as an old White guy with a snow white beard.

I agree with noelia completely. I don't think you can say God is genderless and say I think he is male. Can't be both. I realize the Bible refers to him as Father. But it is important to keep in mind that the Bible (though a holy book, so don't get me wrong in this statement) is still written by man. The ways of thinking back then are going to transfer into the writing, and in their way of thinking back then, women were inferior. So of course it isn't going to say Mother, because that would suggest an inferior kind of god. And the passage saying God created man in his own image, I don't think that they were using the term "man" as in the gender "man". I'm pretty sure that the term was used referring to the race of "man", which includes woman. When I talk about God, I do say 'he', but not to assign gender, but because I'm not going to refer God as 'it'.

I'm going to say he's male in the sense that he's referred to as father, as well as Jesus came in the form of a man... however, God can be for you both mother and father figuratively speaking (not literal, as that's not how he has portrayed himself to be), but the Bible in the Old Testament does give an example of how God bore his people (the Israelites) on wings like eagles.

Now, this I think is interesting, because of how eagles teach their young how to fly. The mother will toss its young out of the nest to see if it will fly, if it doesn't then she'll swoop down to catch it and fly it back up to the nest.

As far as the people who wrote the Bible, which were directed by God's Spirit in what they wrote, degrading women as inferior "back then", they for one, didn't think of them as inferior but in fact held them in high regard, for two, this inferior deal steams from the fact that it was Eve that took of the forbidden fruit in the Garden, not Adam (though he loved her so her took of it as well afterward), thus bringing sin into the world.

I always went under the impression that god was genderless being of creation

The bible always has jesus calling god his father so if your christian id say male.and white seeing its derived from juidism.

I actually wouldn't say that Jesus was white. He was born in Israel as a Jew; they tend to have darker skin in Israel... not really Caucasian.

tRIUNE : i did think that myself but the modern jews are just like whites from living in colder climates so id say theyre pretty much the same race(not that thats important i should hastily add,lol)

In Genesis, God creates Man in his image, then creates Woman from Man. I do believe God is Male, and that we are all the Bride of Christ. 

As for race, God has none. Jesus was Middle Eastern. White Jesus = European Jesus .
