A quick search says yes, Vikings would be the oldest.

Ninjas dominate with skill and stealth that has been refined over hundreds of years of trial/error and rock hard determination.
They both have their strengths and weaknesses,so now the question is in what circumstances does this battle take place?

You're probably thinking of the Boxer Rebellion. People often attribute abilities to ninjas that they just don't have (probably because of anime shows like naruto). Ninjas aren't invincible, they can't just appear behind you (unless you just didn't notice them, in which case it's your problem). They can't teleport and they aren't bulletproof. Stealth isn't the main advantage of a ninja as opposed to pirates. It's discipline. In a fair fight in an open field, a pistol would take down a ninja, easy.

All they have to do is lie down low and wait for youy to walk nearby ,and slash!! You have no legs.
