Runescape is an incredible game for many reasons.

1. The fact that the game is completely browser-based makes it is a wonder how they made the game so large and diverse.

2. Because a large portion of the game is still FREE TO PLAY is another huge bonus. the free game still has a large amount of things to do, such as: Mining, Smithing, Wood cutting, cooking, fishing and much more.

3. Let us not forget that just because the game is free does not mean it is substandard; there is still at least a week's worth of quality playing time in the free version.

4. Though the free version is still large, members boasts twice the items; ten times the quests, and twice the area to explore.

5. A very friendly community tops it all off, with the jagex staff being very involved in player input, and many friendly people to help you out.

1. Some of the most ugly graphics ever on a 3D game.
2. Same with sound.
3. More repetitive gameplay then wow.
4. And just all around boring.

I couldn't stand the thing for more then a few days but that's my opinion.

Why would you want a browser based game when you could get a client and play a much better game (yes, convinience.. ok..)

runescape:

1, it is fun for younger kids (some older kids like it)
2, if you are not member you cant do nothing
3, it should work on most computers+65MB of ram
4, it is slowly getting new kool stuff that they get off other games like WoW

However you look at it, its a java based game based in a browser (or so I belive). No browser bassed game can ever compare to a client based game, such as last chaos or slik road.
But thats just my thoughts though.

Bob, you've got to admit, for a low-budget, java-based game, it's pretty powerful. However, I really don't like playing it because the graphics make my eyes burn and the music hurts my ears. I stopped playing at level 53

Yes true, but java games in browser will never be as smooth as games in a client.

I actually started playing runescape because even though the graphics are borderline fugly, it's a much better concept than "Kill this, get 9 out of 12,000,000,000,000 EXP, level up, kill something STRONGER." Plus, IceWave04, if you see someone named IBOCK3 on the Shaiya Online game, it's obviously me. I'm trying to find an MMORPG to stick to, but the problem I'm having is it says I have a 50 hour download on my HIGH speed connection.

When I still played runescape, it was a little bit addicting but not so much. I just wish there was a little more to the gameplay than pointing and clicking.

I switched to World of Warcraft and I'm much happier now. I like it, it's a great game and if you do the math, $15 monthly without buying other games SAVES money while still satisfying your craving for gaming. Think about it; Free MMORPGs usually have "Game Cards" that can cost up to $50 a pop, not to mention it's not even a monthly fee. Check Maple Story for example, I spent $35 and the in-game points vanish fast.

Personally, I hate the idea of paying $15 a month after buying the game. It's a huge ripoff.

Well, check the following games statistics:
Maple story: Free, optional game cards
Average consumer spending: $35-$50 a week for NX buyers

Last Chaos: Free, optional in-game points for purchase
Average consumer spending: $20-$30 a week.

World of Warcraft: Pay to Play, buy the game and get an entire month for free.
Price: $15 a month flat rate.

Now do the math. If you like RPGs then Which one would you rather play? Seriously, Even Runescape is better than a free to play game (members $5/month) because the free to play games always have a snag where you have to "buy" something. Maple Story has ruined more lives than WoW, In my class, out of the 9 people in my homeroom, 3 are dropping out to play it.

I rest my case.

As to the WoW thing, Ziggy, for one thing, for a game like WoW, people expect updates and upgrades almost daily, and to provide that, ActiBlizzard (Damn you Activision!) needs TONS of worker drones to mindlessly work for 2$ an hour, so they need money. Thats where you paying them 15$ a month comes in. In my opinion, ITS WELL WORTH IT. Especially for the fact that if you just buy a year, it's 10$ a month. I used to play WoW, but even though I didn't go farther than 40 days and buy another month due to boredom, the 15$ would have been worth it, had I not been bored of the game.
I used to (And still do) play CoH/CoV. Trust me, the 15$ a month IS NOTHING!

And as to Ibock, you must realize, DM is like that. He purposefully says these types of things to get a reaction, or response, from you in the way that you did. I don't know if it gives him thrills, or just fun, but it's best not to explode every time he says something like that.

ON A SEPERATE NOTE: Did you know 50% of WoW players dropped their lives to play the game forever?

Did you know 80% of statistics are made up right on the spot?

I actually like runescape; it takes alot of time to get in the high ranks, but once your there, its fun to fight.
