'nother one? Oh, excuse me. I'm just a bit confused. This is a General Chat thread, not a Newbie Forum thread. I'm fully aware that you're a newbie, but I do have to summon the Moderators modding this forum to ascertain their attention to this thread to close it or move it to General Chat, haha.

In spirit of this thread's topic, I'll comment something relative to it. Some parents are just worrying about their child's innocence, and letting them be washed in violent or sexual games can cause the child to lose their innocence. I don't know why parents are like that, but that's just what I guess! Personally, I've had the same trouble, but they left me alone when I became 14 or 15. I'm almost 16 right now!

In case this is actually your newbie introduction thread, welcome to Vizzed!

Please feel free to PM me personally or the 'RGR Staff' inbox via your private messages inbox for ANY kind of troubles in the RGR (Retro Game Room). I'm a RGR staff personally, so you can come to me for help in there. My job is currently as a File Adder and a Game Reviewer, but I do have a extra job too... Chat Police.

However, if you run into trouble on the Board, which is on this index, don't talk to us, you should go and talk to one of the Moderators here. Feel free to PM their inbox, 'Local Moderators'. If you actually, somehow, ran into severe and serious problems, PM the 'Global Moderators' inbox!

Suppose you're wondering what lines on our usernames does. Those are line ranks. For example, if you see a Moderator, they would have two solid lines on their username. They'll be who you should go and talk with about Board troubles.
On the other hand, as a example, look at my username. It has one solid stripe and a dotted line. That's the mark of a RGR staff. There are 18 of us, last time I checked. We are who you go for RGR troubles.
If you happen to see a username with ONE solid line, that is a rank called Elite. Only people who is / was active and been on Vizzed for a LONG while, gets that rank.
If you see a username with dotted underline, that is the mark of the Trusted members, which is Vizzed's heart of the community. To achieve Trusted rank, you have to be out of 'Newbie' rank and be a regular member after 8 days and 10 posts, and also make yourself look presentable and act like you're a great addition to the Board, which people will feel compelled to give you TP (Trust Points). Do NOT beg for trust points, that will only make you LOSE trust points.

Have a great time posting / gaming, Donovan100!

My mom loves games, and my step-father was the one to teach me how to play Goldeneye.

They hate games because they think that they're detrimental to a childs health, nowadays, it's probably true. But that's what they said about television and rock and roll in the 60's.

Games only effects a children's health if the parent(s) allow it to, in my opinion.

You would stop you child from eating food found in a trash can, would you not? Because it would effect their health. If games effect their behavior, then shouldn't the parent stop the child from playing games as well?

But no, most parents are like "meh". And when their child becomes unstable in some way, they pit the blame on others. A lot of parents now-a-days want the world to educate their child (in my opinion). But a lot of parents today are just generally bad parents because they simply do not know how.

Video games have this strange stigma on them that still is around today. Parents are much more accepting of video games these days thanks to the Wii and getting used to them, but think of video games like they are heavy metal. Parents see heavy metal as rebellious and violent. Video games aren't really all that rebellious, but the violence of the more famous non-Nintendo and Sega ones makes them fear the medium.

They may have grew up playing Pac-Man or even Goldeneye, but when you have a child, you become a mother bear. You want your cubs to be safe, and feel threatened by media. Like a mother bear, attacks can happen in hopes of protecting the cubs. It's also fear based.

They don't always know what is in the video game, for one. They feel the medium could make the child lazy, or even violent. I could go on, but there's many reasons a parent can have objections against video games. Much like they can have objections towards anything.

If parents cared they wouldn't buy their kids a rated T or M game. They just hate to see games such as Grand Theft Auto being played with cursing, nudity, stealing cars, and killing people. Even worse when theirs actual news of kids doing things and blaming their actions on video games they played.

Perhaps some parents "hate" games cause they see it as a distraction from priorities like schoolwork and good grades.

My parents had no problem with me playing video games, unless it was inappropriate for my age. They'd sometimes play with me.

Parents often hate video games, because they don't take the time to try to understand them. I should know. I have one. Good thing that my father understands and loves video games. He even have an account on this site.

My parents don't like games only when it is extremely gory or really sexy. They generally see video games as just mindless and a distraction from something important like most parents I'm sure.
