I was sitting on one of the swings at the park down the street from my house. I see a black dude - no more than about 23 perhaps- talk on the phone with someone. He was saying something about going to the club or something (I know it wasn't my business, but there was nothing to do). Later on, he sat next to me on a different swing and asks to borrow my phone.(By this point, something already told me to be on guard). I politely tell him that I can't because I'm outta minutes. He asks if its from AT&T, then says that he hates them (while I decide how's the best way to leave). I finally get up, and leave the park. This time, the dude gets up, and follows me. He was trying to strike a deal with me - he borrows my phone for a sec, and I borrow his until he gives mine back. Too bad for him, he didn't realize that I was no idiot. I told him 'no' then explained mainly because "I don't know you, the phone being dead means its your fault, and your problem, and to leave me alone." He keeps talking saying that I don't understand when in reality it seemed to me like he was the one with the misunderstanding. Finally I say: "Look leave me the heck alone. My parents are inside that house right there and I KNOW you don't want any trouble." He then corners me at the neighbors house, jacks my phone, and tells me to go to the tree and keep my hands behind my head, or else he'll bash my face in. I panicked, not knowing what to do turned around. When I turn, he's nowhere in site. Then I hop the fence and bang on my backdoor. When I tell my parents, they start looking all over the subdivision with no luck.

Later on, my mom says it might just be a lesson learned, and that I could always get another phone. My dad then tells me the stories of how he got jacked, and then tells me : "Even if your scared, challenge him - make him want to fight you. Do what you can, and run as fast as you can to get home." And that's my story...

P.S: he stole an Iphone ( thank goodness it was a bootlegged version) but it was STILL MY FIRST AND ONLY PHONE!!!

Geez, that really sucks, well, hopefully you can get a new phone and maybe you can stand up to the next guy who tries to jack your iphone or phone.

Dude that sucks, though I do live in, not the best area, where more minorities live, I have never had that happen to me. Minorities can apply to anyone having a hard living/not just by race.. What your dad said makes real sense then it's not so much about the phone, but about defending yourself, and the physicality of it. Then you can run I guess..

That's terrible. I'd probably be a lot more scared than you if some creepy guy came up to me like that. Thank goodness that it was only your phone that got taken because a lot more could've happened then.

That's pretty bad, although it could have gotten much worse in a matter of seconds, but what's done is done. Hope you can get a new phone soon to replace your other phone.

That is awful. It must have been the scariest things ever. An IPhone? Man that's a precious lost. Just pray that the guy gets caught with the bootlegged version

Sounds like you did everything you could to avoid the situation. That much is good. What concerns me is what your father told you. Provoking anyone to get into a fight is something you should never do. If fact, you can get in legal trouble for that depending on where you live. Never challenge someone to a fight. I hope things turn out better for you.

AuraBlaze : Yeah, about that.... He says that about people that irritate me at school mostly. But he also said something about trying to get me some jujitsu training or something to defend myself in that type of situation... (because he knows that I currently can't fight worth anything despite my username).

Sorry for sandwich posting, but I felt I should say this ASAP.

I took Songahm Taekwondo when I was younger. some of the lessons I took were for self-defense; never to learn how to fight. Even if you learn any martial arts, it should not give you the right to challenge someone else. After all, you not know if your attacker is carrying a gun --worst case scenario. Sometimes the best self-defense is doing what the thug tells you to do.

Dude, you gotta be more careful with your stuff. But still, it does suck that it happened to you out of all people. Just make sure it doesn't happen again.

Keep your chin up and take the advice in that your dad gives you, I doubt it will happen again and dont forget you can replace phones, etc but you cant replace your life
