I was bullied quite a bit when I was in middle school. I never fought back until 8th grade when I got rid of a bully who was also planning to stab someone to death. I told the school staff about his plans to get a knife into school, and also told them about the fact that I had been being bullied by the guy for three years. The second thing I told them was told before the knife thing even was thought up by him.

I find no point in fighting back with punches when that just is telling them you're annoyed. It's best to use authority's help to get them to leave you alone. It even saves other people from getting bullied by the person, too.

I'm not a physically strong person, though. The strongest thing in my body is my brain, in fact. I'm better at using their fears verses fighting.

If the bully is the type to bring a knife or a gun to the fight, or to kill me with it after I beat him up, then it's not a good idea to fight them. Well, it's never a good idea to fight anyone, because the loser of the fight can press charges. Luckily, I was never really bullied through high school, and elementary school bullies are too juvenile to be effective, so I can't be sure what I would do in a situation like that since I've never been in one.

I usually ask my friend to help me out with the problem. I've never been physically bullied but I have been verbally bullied. The random guy would just start swearing at me and calling me names =.= and because I don't swear and I don't really want to stoop down to his level I just asked my friend who is very smart and good with words to annoy him back. Also, bullies don't usually have that many friends and the victims do because they are nice people so that evens the odd. Ignoring them or asking help is always the way to go. There is a reason they pick on you (because you are weaker) so fighting back is pointless unless you go and take steroids or fighting classes or swearing classes(if those even exist). Overall, I would fight back but I would think of a plan to ensure that I win. =D

winfred : Actually, they often have bad home lives, and take it out on others. It's not that they don't feel pity, it's just them handling their feelings in ways that harm people. I actually ended up learning that the person who bullied me for three years now is getting professional help for his anger issues.

I used to flame people on a message board just to get my anger out. Why was I angry? I was being picked on everytime I rode the school bus. People would accuse me of having X rated magazines despite the magazines clearly being okay for teenagers, and I often who leave the school bus feeling bitter the minute one girl called me a lesbian.

The way I went about handling my anger was wrong, and probably harmed the people on the message board. I know not to use such methods now. My story isn't a good example of bullying, but it is an example of why people may purposely hurt people.

Some bullies are just trying to be cool for some reason in some cases. Other cases are out of prejudice.

I've been bullied and teased quite a bit throughout my life because of many things. I hate what bullies do, and am struggling to forgive every bully I encountered. I am not defending them, but simply informing you about the many reasons one can decide to purposely hurt someone. It isn't always out of pure hate.
