For me it really depends on what I'm doing. If I'm drawing I like to use a pencil since I can fix things if I make a mistake but if I'm writing notes for a class or something I like to use a pen. Of the two though I guess I like a pen more than a pencil.

Much like Arget, I have a preference based on what I am doing... notes or anything I need to last (directions, addresses, phone numbers) I write with a pen, most everything else though I prefer to use pencil. Mechanical pencil to be precise.

My penmanship looks better with mechanical pencil, so I always use it. I find it easier for me to write with a pencil and I could always erase the mistakes instantly. Unlike with pens I always need to hold the eraser fluid. I don't like using parenthesis for enclosing the mistakes...

I like the feel of a pencil better than a pen, I like how you can vary the degree of sharpness, and I like how you can erase and how it doesn't leak through the page or make a mess ever. I change my mind a lot when I write so I need the eraser.

I myself prefer to use a pencil, because i don't have very steady hands and my handwriting is sloppy, so i like to be able to erase my mistakes. However i do like using those erasable pens, those are cool.
