He does not want the member of the church to be singing lies or songs that are about where the individual wants to be (because the focus should be about God himself. Concerning the song with the line, "Brokenness is what I long for," I disagree with his stance because I feel he is acting like he knows that his church's congregation will be lying. When it come to worship with the use of songs, it should be a lot more of a personal level. If a church member is "lying" in the sense that Pastor James McDonald claims, that person ought to find out the answer for him or herself --not to say that he or she should be living without the help of others.

I feel as if that is too literal, though I get where he's coming from. Like for example, the "Jesus is my boyfriend" songs. I don't think people mean it that way when they sing it, or when they write it, so it seems okay to me.
