I finally told my friend (the one that I reference a lot in my posts) how I really felt about her. I was straight up honest. I told her that I've fallen in love with her...and she said YES!

Jk, I got rejected. However, it was invigorating. This was only the second time that I was in love and technically this was the first time that I bluntly said "I love you".

It had to be done. It was eating me up for the longest time. I knew that I had done everything that I could to prove how awesome I am. If everything from the last two years would do it, then nothing would.

This is also the second time that I was told that I am too good for them. I'm not sure how I feel about that. On one hand, it's very flattering that for once it is I that is on the pedestal, at the same time, however, I can't picture a more suitable lifelong companion. Oh well. I said that last time and I went and found one.

Amazing how months of pent up stress and emotions can be expelled so quickly.

NotJon : I'm sorry she doesn't return your feelings, but you seem to be taking it very well. Congrats on having the courage to tell her though.

Honesty is the best policy. I've learned the hard way that if you're not honest with others (or yourself) about your feelings, it will constantly bother you...

Annette : Thanks. I'm surprised I'm not crying or something to tell you the truth lol. I guess I'll have to do some soul searching or whatever it is that people do at times like this. She's still my best friend and I'm glad that she doesn't want to get rid of me now.

Well at least she's still your friend.... I waited to long to tell someone I liked them once and it just blew up in my face :/

Props to you dude for putting it out there. Too bad she doesn't feel the same way. But I guess that's life. I sure you'll find someone who will. Your really nice after all

Congrats on having the guts to say how you feel at least. More than what I've done. I've only ever been on one DATE, let alone having a girlfriend, and I'm 20. The ones that seem to want me to ask them out are so crazy they scare me, and I've always been too scared to say how I felt to the girls that I felt I might like enough to date. Go figure.

WarpStarFerret : I know it's hard, but the best thing you can do is tell the person you're interested. Otherwise they might never know, and you will never have a chance with them. Even if you get rejected, it's okay. At least you gave it your best try. It is a lot better than having NO chance by not saying anything at all.

Annette : True enough. It's just hard for someone who speaks almost exclusively with either logic or sarcasm in public (I know it's a weird mix, but w/ever. Drives the people who only sort-of know me nuts sometimes. ) to speak with emotion. Some things are just hard to change. :/

WarpStarFerret : You could just try saying it in an extremely neutral way. No trying to seem romantic or profound. I get where you're coming from... I struggle with that too, I am really shy in some situations and I can't convey emotions like that very well. Sometimes the best I can manage is a smile.

Good for you. You're empowered, you made the leap, and you did what some are too afraid to do their entire lives. Good job standing up and acting.

Saying that, unlucky, brah. Too bad you got shot down. But now you know and you can do whatever comes next.

WarpStarFerret : Dude, what is a date anyway? You must have gone somewhere with an individual of the opposite sex? You may not have explicitly called it a date, but that's pretty much what a date is. I've never had a girlfriend either. From what I've seen, only older women seem to be openly compliment me.

I really hate to put it like this, but sometimes you just have to be a man (a masculine man). I'm 5'8, 110 pounds wet, wear plain clothing, seldom use cologne or deodorant (though I don't sweat much), an afro that I'm sure scares some people, and I have some acne to top it all off. And yet, I was still able to to bring myself to tell her.

Don't beat yourself up. I probably painted a negative picture of myself, however, my friend loved clothing, smell, hair, etc. She also thinks that I'm not ugly and too good for her. GO FIGURE.

Give yourself more credit. If you see someone that you think you would like to be with, don't be thinking that she's too good for you, just ask her to hangout and eventually just tell her how you feel once you're sure.

UPDATE: Apparently, this has strained our friendship. She says that we shouldn't see each other for a while. That made me very sad. She also said some very hurtful things and told me to "man up" which I really hate hearing. I feel like I've lost a best friend...well I think I did. She was right though, I need to learn to be on my own. I relied on her too much to make me happy. I rely on a lot of people to make me happy. I wish I knew what to do next. I guess all that there's left to do is wait.
