I was on youtube recently, and I found several videos featuring people trying to make an extra evolution for some pokemon. While their versions were very poorly illustrated, it got me thinking. Should Nintendo add a 4th evolution for pokemon?

I think that it would be very interesting to see what the final product would be. It would completely change the levels that we now consider to be strong or weak. I also think that Nintendo might be running out of ideas for new pokemon, and if so this would make that process a lot easier. I was wondering what you guys thought about an extra evolution, and if you've created any cool new evolutions then post them here!

I don't think they should because...actually I'm not sure. I just feel like three is a good number and adding another would take away the fun. I'm sure others would like the idea because it would make them try harder to train their pokemon though.

i've been waited for a long time to see 4th stage evolutions. most pokemon just stop learning moves after level 50 then they're just crap

They have adjusted their formula a little bit in fifth gen; a few Pokemon learn moves REALLY late, and a few evolve really late as well. (One evolves the ONLY time it does so at level 59. 59!!!!) All in all, I think it should stay at three, although I DO think they should expand a little more on some of their older Pokemon with less evolutions, like Skarmory. I mean, they went back to Sneasel, Magmar, Electabuzz, and even Rhydon, among others, so why not Skarmory, or a few others?

They obviously should. getting a 4th evolution is cool. It would be cool for a starter.
Here are some reasons
1. the coolness
2. the stats are extra better
3. a lot of people would like the new pokemon
4. more pokemon would be made
5. more catchy
that's about it and those are my reasons.

It would be an opportunity for Game Freak to make many more Pokemon! plus the competitive metagame would be completely shifted. I would like to see an extra evoloution of Machamp!... oh, boy.

It would be interesting...But we can definitely rule out the 4th Evolution of a starter pokemon.

Ooh that's a good idea. I remember when I was younger, I heard myths about the fourth evolutions of the original starters (like Charking). I really wanted there to be another evolution. I think it would be a good idea. When/if Pokemon ever declines drastically in popularity, they should throw some crazy stuff like that around.

I agree there should be a 4th evolution stage for some pokemon. Like bird pokemon and starters they could evolve after lvl 50 and get extra powerful moves that would be epic and i would be willing to pay extra money to see that happen.

Only for some Pokemon. I don't think starters, but Pseudos should get a fourth cause then they'd be super powerful!

Wow I never realized that there isn't a 4th evolved form of any Pokemon. It would be pretty cool to see one so yes I think there should be one.

It should be any more 4th evos for pseudos, tyrogue family,snorunt family, etc. and for starters ofc.

I can understand everyone's opinions. Personally, I'd like to see a fourth evolution. But then Pokemon wouldn't be the same. Digimon has five evolution stages, and you can degenerate back to previous evolutions. I sometimes forget the difference between the Mega and Ultimate stages.

I think if they added a fourth evolution, Pokemon wouldn't be Pokemon anymore. At least not like the way it is. Making up fourth stage evolutions just to fill up half the generation's Pokedex is just an excuse for "We've run out of ideas... let's create something that grabs the consumers' attention and not put any thought into what the heck we're doing."

A fourth stage evolution would just make it so that they can create a "new" Pokemon just by looking at an older one, and tweaking it to make it look different, and pass it off as a new idea.

Seriously, don't you think the Pokemon Co. has already figured this out? THAT'S WHY THERE IS NO FOURTH STAGE EVOLUTION!!![/frustration] That's my opinion.

It depends if the 3rd evolution stage is weakish... OR it could be like evolve at level 80. or something like that.

Although I don't see why it should be limited to three stages, there are only a few Pokemon (mostly weaker ones) that should get another evolution to allow them to comete properly with higher tier Pokemon. Not all pokemon should have evolutions as I think most sets are good the way they are and shouldn't be changed much.

Lol as NotJon said, I for one would find it weird for Machamp to be among some of them to get a 4th evo, but others that were only one evolution might as well, I mean hey, they gave Rhydon, and Magmar one. I have mixed feelings towards this, but I guess it would be interesting to see what they come up with, though i worry they will just turn out looking weirder (-_+)

I don't think that they will make a forth generation because if you think about it everything important comes in threes like the starter Pokemon, the number of legendary Pokemon, and there were 3 versions of the first Pokemon game (Red, Yellow, and Blue).
It is highly unlikely that they will make a forth evolutionary state, though it would be cool.

Wait wait wait.... why need 4th evolution if you can have..... 6 EVOLUTION!!!!!!! That would be so cool like Pichu -> Pikachu -> Richu -> Muntchu -> Stelichu -> Elilchu!

That would be cool...but wouldn't they have to evolve at like level 56?

pieman9 : Yeah, I'd say that would be the ideal evolution level. It may seem like a high level, but when you think about it, a pokemon would have to be at least that strong to survive in the Kanto area of Soul Silver & Heart Gold.
