Which Gen is your favorite? It can be based on the Pokémon available, the Pokémon in the anime, the characters in the anime for that season, or anything else you can think of.


My favorite is Gen I. It has most of my favorite Pokémon. Gen II was good too, but not good enough.

But Hoenn was the first region I played... I caught Rayquaza on my cousins game.

Sinnoh.
Mostly because Sinnoh is where I got my first trainers liscense. Where I first became a trainer. Although my first appearence in pokemon was in Hoenn.
I love my Torterra... Too bad he's running free in Unova now...

For me, It's Gen 2. All of the pokemon are beast.

ashx123 : I would have to say that kanto is the best and only because thats where it all started and for me thats whre the best pokemon were i can remebember when charizard was the best pokemon. but i also like johto. after that i lost track of all the pokemon and the charachters in the show and games were different and they always say you cant beat the classics.

I love the first three almost equally. I'd have to say that it's a tie between II and III. I'm sorry but I can't pick one over the other.

Umm... i'm having a tie between the III and IV generation but i'm choosing generation IV because:
Teh Electabuzz/Magmar/Rhydon can evolve,
Awesome Starters,
Having fun with digging the fossils,
Cool flying-type pokemons,
and much more that i can't type right now.

Hoenn, and johto. I swear, all originality went out the window when they had gen 4

I absolutely love gen 5 Because all the pokemon in battle actually move, and the new designs are great. the games have excellent 3d. the new moves are really helpful, and the characters aren't 10-year olds.

its a tie between Generation 2 and 5
Generation 2 because it had that right balance of pokemon and challenge
Generation 5 because the first run through is only new pokemon which is what i've wanted for a long time now
All in all you cant go wrong with any Generation

Generation II because it has my favorite pokemon in it. And it introduced Dark types, which was amazing.

i like the unova region. The unova region just stands out unlike the others. I also like sinnoh region. Sinnoh region is great because its my first region. I also like turtwig, my starter. also tepig for white. My third favorite region is the region for the first pokemon mystery dungeon games. Just appealing. 4th place is totally johto. then obliva, then the rest, and last to nothing is HOENN. the hoenn region suckes. You do not know how horrble the games are. luckily that regions big history... They kept on starting over. it was a big humongus nightmare. I beat the elite 4. Then save, then turn off. Next time I play,,, it says game file deleted. not exact words, but similar

I thought it was the best one over all I watched the anime and played the games

Story wise, Gen V is the best, although the new Pokemon are, for the most part, pretty lame. That being said, when all things are considered I liked Gen II the best, because I liked the Pokemon in that Gen AND I liked the story and pacing.

I like the newer gen black and white because you can get all the pokemon from previous gens.

As I played Soulsilver (hadn't played Gold, Silver, or Crystle) I felt a weird nostalgia, but in a different way. It felt almost as if it were a fangame.

My fav Gen. is IV. Tons of awesome Pokemon - Luxray, Staraptor, Empoleon, Torterra, Infernape, Magnezone, Lucario, Roserade, Leafeon, Glaceon, Frosslass, Bastiodon, Floatzel, Gallade, Rypherior, Electivire, Heatran, Shaymin, Dialga, Palkia, Giritina, Arceus, Mesprit, Uxie, Azelf, and many, many others.

Fun fact: Before Gen IV, there was only one set of Electric-Type Pokemon that had three evolution stages - Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu. Gen IV provided three more sets: Elekid, Electabuzz, Electivire; Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone; Shinx, Luxio, Luxray.

Second favorite would have to be a tie between III and V. There are several Pokemon in both generations that I can't believe, like Solrock and Lunatone, and Trubbish and Garbodor. Seriously...

Asking me my favorite gen is like picking a favorite child. I really don't know what to go for. In regards to the actual pokemon I know for sure gen 4 isn't the greatest of them all in my opinion. I'll say I love the first 3 gens all equally, the 5th is pretty cool so far, but the 4th gen is a little weak for me.

As far as the generation Regions go I'll say Sinnoh has the most unique "adventure field" It just always seemed that there was so much to do(that and it was tailor made for ev training), though you can't beat gen 2 as it had both Johto AND Kanto. Hoenn was nice even though there was a lot of surfing, which to be honest I didn't mind too much. What I like about Unova is that it splits into two separate ways and you complete the games main story by going through the first half, and post-story you are given the opportunity to stroll through the other half of the region which made the game feel like it didn't just end with a battle frontier thing after the elite 4. My only complaint about that is since you've beaten the main story by that point there's really nothing to actually do on the other half of the map other than find new pokemon.

My favorite generation is the first because it's the original and the Pokemon actually made sense.

The original Generation 1-3. Because those were during the times I was collecting Pokemon cards and playing Pokemon HARDCORE!

I'd have to say that I had the most fun with the 1st and 2nd generations, though I'd probably go with the 2nd generation because that was the first time new pokémon were announced and it was amazing upgrade from Red, Blue and Yellow.

3rd generation was really good too, but that was the age when I wondered if I was actually going to continue. However, my cousin got me to buy it so I continued on from there. Though 3rd generation added new stuff, they took away some features that annoyed me.

4th generation was probably the weakest for Pokémon. The game is great though.
So to narrow it down, I'd say...

2nd > 1st > 3rd > 4th no idea about the 5th yet sorry.
