Some of you guys may already heard about this.I read an article about a therapist, Steve Pope who jumped to the shocking conclussion that spending two hours on a "gamestation" is equivalent to taking a line of cocain! He also talked about how... ah, screw it! Read it for yourself!

I am confused whetever to laugh or to rage... and look at the picture on the article which shows the therapist. He look more like a satire of a therapist!

I guess that most of us are nothing but Junkies... Well i gotta get high!

Heh LOL, yeah dude therapists can seem to be full of themselves. It's a stretch to make that claim, I've been there--so nah, not the same Sheesh, therapists with their theories.

When I read the article, all I could think about is some kids snorting coke, and telling everyone that its okay, because video games do the same thing for you. I'm not as surprised though, seeing as how almost everyone these days seems to blame the problems of the youth on video games, just like they did Rock n Roll in the 60s. I wouldn't take it too seriously, all the guys doing is telling millions of parents their right so he can get free advertisement and support.

I agree with Oraeus. Parents just want a way to blame their kids for being kids. For exploring the times and utilizing the technology of the future.

This article is not right, and it's just propaganda.

His article and statement is wrong on so many levels. While gaming can lead to addiction, just as much as anything and disrupt learning, for most of us we are in control and know how to handle ourselves. If we don't we can seek help if it's there for us. For many us us videogames allow us to unwind, and release our aggressive tendency.

I think that gaming is better for you than Coccaine. I know how to read, and I have a passion for "drama" because I played games. Coccaine just makes you... ugh.

That article is full of bologna. It just encourages parents to limit the time kids play games so they don't end up like the cocaine guy.

I think that maybe if you stuck some cocaine up a video game cartridge and snorted it, this article might make sense. Of course, that's only because you'd have to be high to believe it.

Yeah, I don't believe this article. Therapists are evil, like lawyers and tow truck drivers. They just want the big bucks, which is pathetic.

If what the article says is true (and it isn't) then all of Vizzed is not above the influence. Gaming is better than drugs, smoking, and alcohol in every possible way. If we all change a cigarette into a Nintendo DS we'd be saving lives not taking them. Video games are expensive and have an ending therefor it gets us to go get a job to buy more, they also inspire people to become game designers and programmers that in turn advances technology. If you think about it you might as well throw your TV out the window and start beating your head against the wall if you believe the garbage the therapists says. Video games are entertainment just like TV, sports, and youtube. Plus parents can control the type of games their kids play and if they spend more time playing a little bit of the game (an hour or so) or maybe look at the reviews and rating they can decide whether it's good or bad. That therapist probably never played a game in their life and shouldn't judge it that badly.

I laughed when I read this. If he's being serious, then there is no reason I should take cocaine. I never feel "high" after playing video games. Like Alex said, he's just telling parents what they want to hear, video games are bad for their child (which isn't true). I mean, come on!
