There are adult rated games that are just sex games. I think those should be allowed but I'd never want to play one.

As far as games rated mature and below, it depends on the use of nudity, really. FFXII has nudity, but I'd say it's a passable version of it (one of the Espers is holding a woman captive and she's attached to his side, naked, you can see one breast).

I dunno, I'm okay with it. I don't ask that it be in games, but I don't mind when it is. I think they should be allowed to do whatever within the limits of the law of course and so long as the product doesn't get into the wrong hands. I've never seen an adult-rated game for sale, and I know when I worked at GameStop we were quite adamant in letting the parents know that the 9 year old behind them should NOT be playing Grand Theft Auto (despite the fact most of us probably played it too young ourselves harhar).

And as far as games getting into the wrong hands, that's the fault of the parents and not the game makers who have put their product up for proper rating to be sure it doesn't land in the wrong hands.

Well in my mind, that is not really nudity. You see if for a part of a second, and it's not really focused on, only a keen eye would even notice. I didn't. I feel nudity is only considered nudity when it is focused on, for example a naked man or woman walking towards you with intent on talking to you, you know what I mean?

Though I see what you're saying, I still don't think that video games should have nudity. After all, the way rocksome described it that particular nudity was unnecessary to the game

But I won't play a game with unnecessary nudity, but they should be allowed to be made.

Yes, most of the time it can be avoided, but sometimes it get's really classy and fits in well.

I for one wouldn't mind there being some naked and implied sex if a game has a good romantic story in it. I wouldn't mind either if anyone made a game with lots of unnecessary sex, I just wouldn't play it.

But using the FF example, it was implied that she was his.. consummate shall we say? And as such, it might not have been "wanton" nudity, but actually contribute a -small- part to the plot.

I didn't even notice it until I noticed that the rating on the back of the game of mentioned "partial nudity." After that I started trying to keep an eye out for it because I hadn't even noticed when playing the game previously. Eventually I was just reading the stories that come with the espers and noticed in the picture of one (I really wish I could remember which esper it was, if I knew where my PS2 stuff was - I'm in the process of moving - I'd check it right now) of them that there was one breast. And it's not a pretty sight, even, but it's there. It does make sense with the story that goes along with that esper, and while it isn't a main plot point and could just as easily have not been in it, I don't think it detracts from the game in any way just because it's there.

And I agree with DM - if there's a romantic plot I wouldn't mind if there was a little bit of something implied, even a slight bit of nudity before cutting away from the scene, but I wouldn't want to play something that had anything more than that. And yeah, actually showing nudity in a situation like that isn't entirely necessary.

I don't know if I said this in my earlier post or not, but my idea is basically that any sort of nudity should be allowed within the limits of the law (again, so long as it's nothing that is illegal to depict). I don't have to play it if I don't want it, but those who do shouldn't be denied it.

So watching hundreds of thousands of people/aliens/creatures etc. get shot, stabbed, killed, maimed is ok in video games... but no nudity or sex? Hmm... I'll say its its fine. Sooner we get away from the violent mentality of our forefathers, the better... course that's not gonna happen for another 1000 years. We are a violent and war mongering species.

By the way, the new Call of Duty kicks ass on the Wii!!! I revel in my own little dichotomy
