Do you think its a good idea to re-release PS2 games on the PS3? There are many series of games that I never got the chance to play. I would like to get the chance to play the Persona games, or Xenosaga, or Fatal Frame. Otherwise there are expensive to go buy online, only cause they are harder to find. I think it's great to relive them in updated resolution,textures, and graphics with added content or features.

Add-On!-Beyond Good & Evil is already getting one on XBOXLLVE & PSN release. Also Resident Evil remakes have been confirmed! So, here are some that fans really want to have collections.

Star Ocean Till The End Of Time and Kingdom Hearts II would be my choice to be made as an HD remake. I know this is not a PS2 game but Final Fantasy VII should definitely be remade into an HD game for the PS3, I also wouldn't mind Final Fantasy VIII to be remade also.

Most definitely! I think they should release more of the good series in bundles like they did with God of War, Tomb Raider, and Sly Cooper. There is a lot more deserving games. If they can upload inFAMOUS and MAG onto PSN, I'm sure they could manage with PS2 games.

TheOmegaDragon : Actually, I remember seeing on tv once that they were talking about remaking FF VII for PS3, I don't know what ever happened there though. But yes, I would love to see FF VII and VIII..and maybe IX be made HD.

I just liked that they re-released the sly trilogy for ps3...those game are great...hope they´ll make sly 4...

The Shadow of Colossus, and ICO collection for PS3 is coming out soon, Q2 as far as how gaming release dates go. Lol a lot of good games in Q4. Also Prince of Persia : Sands of Time Trilogy is out on PS3 (on disc in UK) here on PSN to buy (they are the PS2 games updated, with Trophy support!)

As for the topic... Kingdom Hearts and Persona series would be my picks. Nothing else worth it for me.

Mine would be Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet and Clank Series and my favorite the resident evil series. The Resident evil series are a just a goldmine for ps3 remakes especially outbreak because they could reinstate the online play.

Honestly, two series come to mind that are obvious: Jak and Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank. These are both sony-based games and without them, there would be no Uncharted and Resistance.

Splinter Cell Collection HD is coming out, Tomb Raider collection is out now, not sure if I said this but the Prince of Persia trilogy that was on PS2 is now a PS3 remake. Shadow of Colossus/Ico collection is out soon. I am looking forward to many more.

Yeah, I'd like to see some of the old PS2 games get remade too. I got my PS2 really late, so I missed a lot of games.

Honestly, I would be more satisfied if Sony just made it so that you could play PS2 games on the PS3. The only reason for making HD versions of games is just to milk its customers for more money, especially since many old PS2 games are really cheap nowadays. =/

I agree with about getting more money from the sales of them, but there are a lot of people who would love to replay their old favorites again with new features, added content (usually is) and updated resolution, textures & graphics. For those who care, (quite a bit actually) they come with Achievements & Trophies, but the best part of all, for me is to replay them in better graphics, and also for instance on the PS3, I still will keep my PS2 copies in good shape, if they do ruin, though I have a Blu-Ray disc that still has em
Oh and I had a PS3 that could play PS2 games, though it needs repair, chances are though they will just send me in a non 60GB model that can play PS2 games, so I have went and purchased a new PS2 (slim model) so can play PS2 games without worry. (old PS2 phat box model is broke)

yesh there are soo amny good games on the ps2 and ps3 so i think there should be ports on the ps4

I would only be excited for the MGS remakes, the KH remakes and the persona and silent hill remakes.
Any other changes would possibly ruin the game for myself and others.

big fat cat : what do you mean by changes, other than graphics, but for example The Sly Collection got added mini games that had Playstation Move support, and a Teaser to a much wanted Sly 4 installment in the series.

Being the proud owner of a PS2 Slim, I am rather neutral. On the one hand, it would be great to see games not die out, but the bottom line is...how come the PS3 is only partially backwards compatible? I know for a fact that certain PS2 games will only work with certain models and PS1 games are hard to get running and to save at all. Overall, though, it would be nice to see these games working properly each generation.

My big issue is what releasing will entitle exactly? How will the original games be altered? Will bugs be fixed, will the graphics be reworked, will entirely stages or levels be added/removed? I say release the games in their original format with the only changes being allowing online multi-player as an option for games that didn't originally have it. I feel though if much is beyond that and the really annoying bugs/issues being resolved, then it would almost seem pointless to re-release them. Actually, come to think of it, shouldn't there some sort of bonus for people who already owned the games originally? Perhaps something small like a new costume in the online games, you know?

Overall, I'm rather neutral and to pick sides it would depend purely on execution.

if they remade all the final fantasies for ps3 i would die a happy man i wouldnt mind a bit of devil may cry either and of course ratchet and clank ah i rememebr the good ol days

Redrunelord : Every year the PS1 library on PSN store is also expanding, I wouldn't know how it is for PS1 games, but they all are supposed to be compatible. but like I said for those that never played them, they do sell PS1 games on PSN to buy, download, & play for the most part, I think if there wasn't a game breaking fix/bug they don't fix it, but for Sly Collection they did which I own. they could implement stuff like that, skins, or things that you would get in Playstation Home as some games do for just having a save on ur system, u get clothing there/furniture.. idk though, as a fan you should be heard, talk on forums/ company forums!

UserMike : Not all of them are, from what I've heard, but the issue is specifically with saving the games. The idea of getting items for the PlayStation Home as a bonus for owning the original game (a save file from a physical copy will suffice) that is definitely a possibility as well. My big stance is that they should not alter the graphics unless it is absolutely necessary for a lot of the nostalgic value is looking at the older visuals.
