I've been thinking about the Friend system and there's one thing about it that bugs me a bit. People can add you without consulting with you first.

I'm going to use Facebook as an example. On Facebook, you can send a friend request. The person you send it to can either accept or reject. If they reject then both your friends list and their friends list stay the same. If they accept, then you are added to their list and they are added to your list. I can see why it's a necessity on Facebook since there is so much personal info.

I was wondering if this is a feature that could be put into Vizzed. I've noticed that many people (particularly mods) have a lot more people who have added them than people they have added. I personally have some people who added me to their list even though I never added them. Most of them I may not have added at all. It's nothing personal. I just don't know them that well. I doubt having someone added would impact anything beyond the friends lists, but it just seems like a formality that is often overlooked. The issue being that someone can add you without your permission.

Is there any chance that a friend request system would be put in to replace the current system where you can add people without asking them? I know David is very busy and this wouldn't come anytime soon. I was just wondering if it might happen at all.

there is only one problem with your system.... if you don't have someone added to your list then you can't send them a message on the private chat system.

Sure, there are PM's as well, but I've had plenty of people add me so they could ask me for help because I was online and could answer their question right away.

I do wish we could require people to agree before they're added as friends.... it would be nice for some of our members (like the female ones) who don't want everyone as a friend.

By my guess the way the feature was made was it appears to have only 1 status (or maybe just ids) so if one person adds someone it automatically approves them as a friend without utilizing the other persons status. Definitely needs to be fixed.

Why would it matter? They can still read your profile anyways even if they are not on your list of friends. I don't think it's wrong if someone wants to be your friend but I guess some would rather be given a choice on such trivial matters.

I think your idea is great, I removed half of my friend's list a few days ago because I had newbies who added me to their friend's list without atleast chatting with me.

The only reason I request people on here is because I like to at least get to know people who had started a conversation with me in threads, because I do like to avoid spamming and sandwich posting, but I do agree where you are getting at. I had a few people sent me a request who I never seen before or even talked to and I'm thinking to myself how that person get on my friends list. I can see where you are coming from. Plus, I can't talk since I send out request a lot too. As for the female members. I PM them permission if I can send them requests such as Noelia. She agreed and I sent the request.

I would love for this system to be added. NO offense to the newbies, but a couple of newbies have added me and just spammed the chat bar, which really annoyed me. >.>

I like this idea, as well, for the approval part, but on the other hand, I wish I could chat bar those who I don't have added... To my knowledge I don't spam the chat bar, but rather try to just chat, or share stuff... If I ever do please say something, I'll appreciate it

I like the idea. I, however, do not really have a problem with numerous people I never heard of adding me as a friend (kind of sad when I think about it), I bet it is frustrating for people like staff and the local/global moderators who get friend requests for whatever reason. Being it just to have people with some authority as a friend, attempts at trust points, or just because. It has to be annoying. I honestly don't see anything wrong with not being able to send private chat. If we PM someone for a reason, they will get the message and take care of it. I can't think of many things that would happen that absolutely needs immediate attention. But yeah, you shouldn't have to be listed as someone's friend if you prefer not to.

I kind of agree that it needs a change up but really David, (from what I have heard I am by no means him) is over the top busy and would get to this in like a month or two.

I hope that there is some change though, but Geo's point was good.
