Yeah, all of the good games are made in Japan, such as all Nintendo games, and all Sony games. It's only fair that they get to play before we do. They're doing it for the Japanese economy, not the American economy.

All of the above + it takes time to properly translate games from one language to another... There might be an expression with a deep meaning in one language that just sounds weird in another language when directly translated. (i.e. Pretty much every idiom in existence)

It wouldn't make much sense to start a new Japanese franchise, and send it over to the US before knowing if it would be profitable in Japan. Why else did we get the Pokemon games? They were popular in Japan, and proved good profit elsewhere. You don't send in a book you wrote to a publisher without seeing if it is readable, right? Same story here. Only it's seeing if the product is profitable.

If a game is made in Japan first, it naturally is released there first. It's just logical. It takes time to translate the game, as well. You can't just use a simple program, as you're changing the text inside a game's programming.

It's just something that is done since it was there first. Would it make sense if we got the German version of Wolfenstein 3D and they got the US version of Wolfenstein 3D? No. The wait for the release of the game in your native language is pretty easy to deal with if you keep all the games you already own.

Japan is kinda going off the big gaming country radar as of late. More games from the countries in Europe and the countries in North America are gaining larger popularity than Japanese made games. The big guys of the gaming world are mostly based in Japan, but the biggest guys right now for people who own non-Nintendo systems are the companies who operate more in the Western countries.

To the person who said Japanese people don't have anything better to do... Go research the country. The workforce there is huge, and that place is one of the most expensive countries to live in. They need a way to get out of the boring robotic life they know is smarter to live, and that's why we notice a larger amount of cartoon production in that country, actually. Also, if you lived the life of a Japanese person who has to follow the same robotic life everyday, you'd be using escapism to keep sane yourself.

That place is very obsessive about honor, which doesn't mean being lazy. Notice the high suicide rate there? Those kids normally did that over dishonoring their family. It a common practice in East Asia, sadly.

I'm only addressing such an offensive post because, despite not having much Asian heritage, how can someone think Japan, one of the economic superpowers, is lazy?!

The reason some games never come out outside of Japan is because of the end of a system's death being faster than the translation could be finished, which is why Mother 3 never came out for to the US when the GBA was still being developed for. Now, the game obviously is only being refused a release now because of laziness, but that's not needed to discuss here; I only mentioned that just to point my view on the refusal to release it here out. Many games made in Japan are deemed bad ideas to bring over to the other countries, as well. Some just aren't good at all, anyway.

In some cases, it has to do with content that other countries would be against. You can look for examples of that yourself. I'll just end this post with one more example. The reason the Sega Saturn had too few RPGs released to the rest of the world was because Sega thought RPGs weren't popular outside of Japan. Odd, I know, but yeah.

Before this post ends, not all games sent to the rest of the world are popular in Japan. Lost in Blue games are one of those oddball examples of games that do bad in the US, but the games still get US releases. Those are niche titles, though. There's some Japanese platformers, that, ironically do better in America.

cop7000 : Japan is angry at the US, but really now, they have every right to be. We kinda blew up stuff just to end a war. It wasn't like we threw a stink bomb down on them, either. Pretty rude to call a country that got a bomb thrown on them racist. Yes, they did some things that were horrible, and they had it coming a bit, but anger is not utter racism. They like American culture, too.

Saying games being released in the country it was made in first has racism involved with it is like saying Europe get games really late because Vikings pillaged a village that was a city. It's not able to link to release of products made for profit!

You aren't insulting a soul, but you are really digging your own hole that shouldn't be dug. How often does the US send things to countries it had wars with? Why do we hate China's government system, yet let them make things for us?

I only want to give you information that will better help you understand this topic. I'm not saying you are wrong, as Japan does have anger toward America still going around, it's just not the reason for them releasing Japanese games in Japan first.

America has gotten Japanese games early in some cases. This is rare, but it can happen.
