we all played games when we were kids. (or are still kids playing games now)
almost every games has a cheat code or 4... what cheat codes can you remember? what games were they for... let's get a compilation of cheat codes or secrets for any game and any system. let's make it better than any one before it... we'll re-write the book on code books... I'll go first.

just a few to start... I'll add more when others add some.

Who framed Roger Rabbit - at the start screen choose enter password choose 2 L's and fill the rest with H's... choose start game and you have everything you need to beat the game besides the dynamite needed to get to toon town... which is at the store when you start.

Gremlins 2 the new batch - password screen "NXRD" last level with full upgrades.

Skate or die 2 - Before dropping into the half-pipe, go to the top of the half pipe. Hit Start and Select repeatedly until you hear a weird sound. Now you can bail as many times as you'd like.

let's see what you've got.

The only cheat codes I remember right off are for the Playstation 1... Other than the old school Contra code..

On NASCAR 98 you could activate "Paintball Mode"... You pause the game during a race and go to I think it is "Standings" or one of the menus, then you press all four shoulder buttons (L1+L2+R1+R2) repeatedly until you hear a noise. Now during a race if you hold down the triangle button you will shoot paintballs from the front of your car which slow the car you hit and send them into the air so you may pass right underneath them.

In Twisted Metal 2 I remember two of the cheat codes (well one really isn't a cheat code). If you press Up Down Up Up R2 then you fire what is known as "Minion's Special Attack" which is, exactly as it sounds, the character Minion's special attack (it was a freeze and I believe three missiles). Any character could do this.

To activate God Mode in Twisted Metal 2, anytime during a level hold all four shoulder buttons (L1+L2+R1+R2) and press Up Down Left Right Right Left Down Up and let go of the shoulder buttons. You will now be invincible. I don't remember, however, if this cheat includes infinite weapons or if you must put in the infinite weapons cheat code as well.

That's all I can remember right off the top of my head, even though the games aren't necessarily "retro"

that code was famous for more than just contra. Ok I'll add another one.

Mickey Mousecapade - nes...

at the start screen hold down "select" and press a button on the d-pad... each direction will take you to a different level.

There is a similar code for skate or die 2. but I'll save that for next time.

You've gotta love retro games and their codes.

I've got some Star Wars ones that are pretty cool.

Rogue Squadron (the 1st one)

CHICKEN (special AT-ST mission)
FARMBOY (unlocks the Millennium Falcon)
TIEDUP (unlocks the TIE Interceptor)---NOTE: you need the 'Falcon unlocked to get the ship selection cursor onto the Interceptor; just put the cursor on the 'Falcon and push up. It's hidden behind the Falcon.

There's also one that turns the A-Wing into a Corvette, that ones' awesome, but it's a really complicated one... The Corvette drops out of the hangar like a rock when it takes off, too. XD

Battle for Naboo

BADTEMPR (unlocks all missions)
CANTMISS (unlocks homing missiles for all ships and speeders)
EACARAUS (turns one of the speeders into a Corvette) ---Not 100% positive this is exactly right... it's a complicated one.

I can still remember a few cheats for SNES..

Alladin - start at genie's level
Password screen enter: Genie, Jafar, Alladin, Abu

Bubsy - start on train level
Password screen enter: STGRTN

Because there was no internet back then, and I had no money at that age.. I had to go down to the local newsagents, pick up a disney adventures mag (or any other mag with a cheat section in it) read the code I wanted a couple of times and memorize it. I couldnt write it down because theyd make you pay for it then lol.

EDIT

Oh and lets not forget IDKFA ... im guessing a lot of you will know what that cheat is for
