First Manga I ever read: DBZ
It was on the chapter where Cell is all overweight and counting down to explode. I was reading it backwards and Cell was counting up so I thought that he was some sort of joke character. Then a week later I decided to read it again but backwards for the heck of it and what do you know? Cell is the villain and he was about to explode and destroy Earth!

The only time this ever happened to me was the first time, but the book said "Stop! You're reading the wrong way!" in the back. Now, I know how to read manga the right way. It really pisses me off when translators flip the book just for Western audiences.

The picture came from the series called HunterXHunter... it was really good until book 20ish when it went COMPLETELY downhill. The series starts off really slow though so you need alot of patience to read far enough to actually like it.

Oh gosh!  I've picked up one backwards several times.  My friends told me back in high school which way I supposed to read it and do you think I'd learn?  No way!  It took me about thirty times of picking up a manga and actually owning one until I finally learned how to open the front cover first without first going to the back.

It was only for a brief moment, since they had the warning on the opposite page, and I just switched. 

I never got the same mistake with books either, since my brain tells me it is a book, not a manga. I guess.

I had freinds that were into manga so I knew long before I tried to read one that they went backwards...but...I didn't know you were surposed to read the panels backwards too, so I got really confused. I read the thing in the back that explained how to read it, but I still had trouble figuring it out. I got dizzy and put it back down.
