When Helium is cooled to almost absolute zero, the lowest temperature possible, it becomes a liquid with surprising properties! It flows against gravity and will start running up and over the lip of a glass container!

Osmium is the densest material on the planet (about 22 grams per cubic centimeter, 10 percent heavier than gold). A (American) football made of it would weight 232 kg.

There are actually many different types of plain water. One of the other kinds is called Heavy water, which is the same as regular water but has one extra Hydrogen atom and changes up the characteristics of the water. It is 10% more dense than regular water, so about 1.1 density, and it freezes at a warmer temperature than normal water (about 39 degrees F (3.82 degrees C))

This kind of water is quite dangerousactually, but it's also quite rare, only about 1 in every 3200 atoms.

Jordanv78 : Nothing can ever reach absolute zero. It's physically impossible. There's always some movement due to quantum uncertainty. The rest of what you say is true though. I just saw a video about it a little while back.

Ferdinand : besides, absolute zero might need to change. From what I heard about experiments, there is still "a lot" of atomic activity even in the close vicinity of -273.15 Celsius.

Random fact of the day: we are ALL eating genetically modified organisms... as it is the basis of modern agriculture. Without cross pollenization and artificial selection for humans, crops like corn, rice, fruits and produce would hardly be edible. I remember this picture of a painting for the Middle Ages showing a water melon. It looks NOTHING like what we have today.

- We have found traces of water on mars. This means that there could very well be life, even if it's bacteria or whatever, living on mars.
