When you have to 'move on' it can be very tough, some friends you out grow, some hold you back and others become plain jealous of the changes you have made in your life. Sometimes you move and lose touch, other times you meet a new partner and things change,

what is your experience, I have found it painful.

I have actually moved on from friends. I think as you get older that happens a lot. Even if you don't have a falling out with a particular it is possible to grow apart just because your lives might be so completely different. No animosity or anything, you just start talking less because you get so involved with your life or different friends. Stuff like that.

Totts : Yes, unfortunately. I've been friends with this kid since high school...were bother over the age of 20 now. About 3 years ago...he started using drugs heavily. At first I didn't mind cause who am I to judge anyone and he's never done anything harmful or wrong to me. But after awhile I noticed his addiction was becoming a a severe problem. He was stealing from his loved ones...stealing from anything that could benefit him getting high.
I had to let him go...cause I couldn't stand to see him do that to himself especially in front of me. I've tried to get him help, counseling but like a typical drug addict he refused and said he could stop whenever he wanted. He just "chooses" to get high. Which is BULL! Anyway, we stopped talking for 3 about to be 4 years. I miss him like crazy, but it'll never be the same. As they say...people come and go...

Yes a few times onece I stopped being friends with one of my friends because my girl friend at the time told me that he made a pass at her So I confronted him and he denied everything and so I told him if I see you again i'll beat you up so we quit talking after that. Then another friend stole money from me and my girlfriend at the time to buy drugs so I stopped being friends with him.

Totts : I have had a couple of people I’ve had to cut ties with during the course of my life. One friend in particular was more like a brother to me than anything and it hurt me when I had to cut him off but I am better off.

It isn’t always easy but when you have someone that is detrimental to you, more often than not you end up having to make a choice. For me in regard to this friend it wasn’t an easy choice because he had been in my life and accepted pretty much as family by my family. What ended the relationship was I had asked him to do something an entrusted him to take care of everything with relatively no problem.

He did take care of what I had asked him to do but in the process he stole from me. Not only did he not accept accountability for his actions once caught red handed but, he outright denied it. I am a very forgiving, compassionate person but it was something like that, that ended up showing me the lack of character that he had.

It wasn’t a matter of the fact that something was stolen from me that led me to that decision but it was more of the fact that it was someone who I looked at as a brother to me of all people that led me to the decision. It’s been years since the incident and although he called me a few years ago, he still did not accept any responsibility for what he had done and simply said that he understood that I was pissed off.

It’s a shame because there was a 15 yr. relationship that was ended but, I just remind myself that it wasn’t my fault and that it was him who was willing to put a price on the relationship and he will be the one that has to live with that not me.

There as I said have been friends that have come and gone through the years but that one is the one that left the biggest wound.

I had to do this out of pure need to. He was doing things I was doing that were harmful to the body. I felt like it'd be harmful if I stuck around.

Wasn't drug, or any of the stuff that's probably going through your head as you read that. I'm not saying what it was, because it is quite... Personal.

Yeah, a ton of them. My best friend ever is talked about in this post, it explains why we don't talk anymore. Rickrolls killed our friendship.

Anyways, yes, my friend Jenelle had to move to South Carolina because her dad got a new job, but he was offered it back, but they didn't come back, and now she's dating this one kid in California that "cheated" on her, so she's all sad and emo now. *breathes* See what life does to ya'?

Anyways, at least your endings weren't forced by your mother, or next to a throwing knife.

I have. For many different reasons. One was psychotically obsessed with me. Some were just down right mean or immature people. Some moved away and we just lost touch.

I have for sure. We went to different colleges and that separated us. They went away and I stayed local. We tried to keep in touch, but we are just into different things and the conversations go dead. It's a shame because these guys have been my friends since the first grade. Things weren't so bad come summer/winter break, but now they don't even bother coming home anymore.

Indeed. I hate when stuff like that happens because when I find someone I trust
or like to be around, then I don't want to let go.
Yet people grow older and they might grow too different.

I have. Mostly because we grew older and stopped participating in the same activities :/. It feels kinda bad, but I understand we've both changed. I've never had any fallings out with friends.

I've had to 'move on' from all kinds of friends, but only one is really hurting me. My friend Heather has been one of my good friends since I started college in August. Now she's pretty much ignoring me and the rest of my friends unless she needs something. Unless we're being 'useful' to her she wants nothing to do with any of us. Now she'd all buddy buddy with this other chick and when this other chick is around it's like no one else exists.

we weren't school friends, but I knew a kid and we had a couple falling outs but we made it through them. he just got so many bad grades at his school that he couldn't really do anything after school. We just kinda drifted apart.

Oh plenty of time, especially when I was in my teens. Friends would treat me bad and eventually I got so tired of it I just moved on. Once was because she started stalking me.

YourMajestyKen : I know the feeling, My best friend started doing the same, she went crazy on my one day and kicked me out of our house because i confronted her about stealing from me. i havent talked to her since but it was hard letting it go.

I had to let my cousin go who was originally more of an enemy. Over time we became good friends but he really changed once he entered high school. After a while, it just didn't feel good to be around him. He was getting mad very easily, he never wanted to go anywhere other than the mall, and one day when I told him that I was busy he just never called again.

I didn't have a choice but to move on. I was very young, is was like a decade ago in the days of my youth, these guys me and my brother were close friends with who lived on our court, moved away right before we entered middle school. We always hung out, play video games inside, and sports and make believe outside. I have them added on facebook, but with that much of a gap of time, slowly becoming more distant it isn't the same. They are different people, then when I knew them.
