I'm watching this anime right now and I looove it. It's one of those shows that is just so delightfully retro. I mean, the graphics are so awful that sometimes the mouths don't even move when the characters talk. Plus, it's so fast-paced that it leaves out a lot of detail, but you can't hate it because of the bad graphics and lack of detail. After all, it released in America in 1966. I personally love the story. It's absolutely charming.

So have any of you seen it? If you have, what did you think of it?

I can't say that I have seen this, however, it doesn't sound like the art is terrible, just simple (or on a budget).

I saw it about once or twice a while back. I remember it being pretty good, although other that it being pretty well-done I don't remember much about it.

Sounds cool to me, I mean just the name exhibits awesomeness to me. I also appreciate the fast pace action I will check it out. I have not seen it though.

billythekidmonster : Just keep in mind that it is a kids show. So if you see something that seems really kiddy, that's why. There are some cheesy parts, but with it being made such a long time ago, there's gonna be cheese. For the most part it's pretty cool. There are a few disturbing parts though. Like Kimba sleeping with his dead father's hide.

jmc1097 : basically it's a story about a white lion named kimba (go figure) who protects the jungle from all kinds of problems like hunters, insect invasions, and even another lion. It's delightful.

But you may notice that it bears quite a few similarities to the Lion King. That's because the guy who made Kimba and Disney's nephew got together and made the Lion King based off of Kimba.

Fun fact: The same actress who voiced the original Astro Boy (released in 1963) is the same woman who voiced the 1966 Kimba. Her name is Billie Lou Watt.

Where can you watch this TV show? It sounds fun, and if it has cheese, I'd love it. I like my TV shows extra cheesy.

Kimba the White Lion is about a little lion cub, named Kimba obviously, who is the son of the former king of the jungle Caesar the White Lion. Caesar was killed by hunters and his mother captured while she was still pregnant with Kimba. Here's where the story gets a little far fetched. Kimba's mother gives birth to him on the ship and he learns to walk quickly. His mother tells him to jump off of the ship and swim back to Africa. So that's what he does. Once he gets there, he's made king of the jungle, and his duty to protect all of the animals. He goes through many hardships, but I guess that's to be expected considering he's still just a cub. So yeah that's pretty much Kimba. It shows him growing up and slowly becoming a better king.
