I like the books because the movies are okay, but they don't follow the story as much.

Totts : You might want to make this a poll. Just saying.

Over all I enjoy the books far more. The books portray Harry in a way that the movies could not. I like them both but the books are better in my opinion. I like how the movie cuts out on some of the more boring parts though.

I prefer the movies, they just interest me more, and the books are way too long in my opinion, and there isn't enough in them to keep me interested for that long.

of course everyone who reads the books would prefer them because the movies cant hold every detail the books hold...thats what makes the books better. It is nice though, to have a visual of it all. I do like the movies yes but i prefer the books over them

LYNDZ88 : I always get a movie image in my head reading any book so I only really like movies based off books if they are done really well.

I don't know, I don't read Harry Potter neither do I really watch the show, I will check these two out.

I agree w/ Lindz88, if you read the book and see the film you tend to prefer the film because movies just do not cover the whole story. Regarding to Harry Potter, 1st movie was OK, very close to the books, but the others always let something out or changed something (for instance, unlike the book, at the movie Neville gave Harry the stuff to breath underwater during Tri-Wizard Tournament). And I remember that one of the movies was so shredded that, if one didn't read the book, one barely understand what's happening in certain passages. Conclusion: books tend to be way better than the movies

-------------
PS2: Fine.
Mega Driver with 71 games: Nice.
Super Nintendo bought at the fair for US$ 25,00: Double Nice.
Turbo Game VG9000T bought at the same fair for US$ 5,00: Just Great.
Black Mega Driver 3 found in a trash can with 4 cartridges: works like a charm.
Long in the tooth Atari: running smoothly
Xbox360 Falcon bought for US$ 700,00, used for 6 months: May devil be with it and guard it.

Definitely the books. Sure the movies provide a physical manifestation of J.K's imagination, but it sacrifices story for special effects, and that does not fly with me... most of the time. Plus I will never forgive them for butchering Prisoner of Azkaban.

Definitely the books, they are just a hll of alot better than the films, they cover more of the story and it seems to make alot more sence in away.
at times i think i find the films alot more uninteresting and after reading the books and then watching the films it leaves you sat there thinking awwwh they missed that out etc.
like something that may not be amazing relevent to the story line but makes things alot more interesting overall.

I prefer the books, they're something to do, and it lasts longer. There's definably a shortening of storyline, and a lot of changes in the movies.

This goes to Entertainment.

The books were great until #6, then they started getting stupid. The movies were great until #3 (I just couldn't get into the new Dumbledore), and #4 got really stupid.

I wouldn't really say I could prefer one over the other as I appreciate each for different things. With the films ,I think Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape is simply fantastic, yet the scripts in the later movies kind of let down the general story and some of the characterisation. However, the books add a lot more depth to the sort of sideplots/minor characters which I feel the movies tend to ignore such as the Marauders, Peeves and Voldemort's history, as the movies try quite hard to please a specific audience. That said, both of them in their own way create a fantastic magical world which I very much enjoy getting stuck into .

The books hands down.

Too me there was just so much in the books that allowed you to connect with the characters more and more as you read on. Not to mention I basically stayed the same age as Harry for the whole time I was reading the series so it made it easier to connect with the story. The movies (especially the older ones) had some sub par acting (child actors though so you can't really blame em) and left out a bunch of the story. They're alright but I'd take the books over them any day.
