NaNoWriMo is the National Novel Writing Month, and takes place every November. The object is to write an entire novel (50,000 words) in 30 days. It's a test of endurance for any writer, much like running a marathon, since that comes down to about 1,667 words per day. This will be my second year participating, and while life got in the way last year, I'm once again taking the plunge.

Anyone else here doing it?

vizwiz123 : The idea is to turn off your inner-editor (the one that tells you everything you write is crap anyways and who are you fooling), and get the story on paper (or pixels!) You aren't supposed to worry about whether anyone would want to read it. Editing is saved for afterward. (Although there is no official National Novel Editing Month, to my knowledge. ;D )

Oniya : I remember hearing about this during some of my English classes back in middle/high school. Good luck with it, it would probably take me 6+ hours to do that and I am easily distracted, plus, I have many things to tend to. Maybe when I'm older I can participate one day.

Thought I'd update. The month is a third over, and so is my 50,000 words. I'm about 2,000 words below where I should be, but I'm still on track to reach my goal. I'm not entirely sure that the story will be done in 50,000 words, but hey - that's what next year is for!
