In My opinion, The greatest villain would be Kefka from Final Fantasy VI.

Kefka was...and IS better. He's FRIGGEN INSANE, and cool and stuff.

I think Galbalan from YS 3 Oath in Felghana is the best villian of all.

Kefka. Not only did he give clowns the reputation of being freaky, but he only found beauty in death and destruction. He's truely one screwed up Mofo.

His early life states he was abandoned as a child and raised in an abusive orphanage, soon growing into a taciturn human being. Here's a little more info on what may have just contributed to his insane personality later on...

Kefka becomes interested in espers; this interest grows into an obsession with magic and the demonic, and Kefka eventually has a nervous breakdown. The breakdown is part of a long term effect of the Magitek process, which was unrefined during Kefka’s augmentation.

Due to Kefka’s mental decline, he is demoted. This happens, ironically enough, just around the time his protégé Celes Chere, now 15, is promoted to Admiral. The collapse occurs at the start of the 3rd imperial campaign. Kefka loses all good sensation in his body, and forgets his fondest memories, leaving with him only memories of his childhood abuse.

Kefka begins to play with dolls, and his behaviour becomes increasingly eccentric; he begins to adorn himself with garish robes, and feminine embellishments, and his speech patterns and behaviour change appropriately. He becomes increasingly more violent, and has fits of anger, where he uses his magical abilities to attack soldiers who make fun of him. He gradually becomes the most feared man in the empire...

Some say all this is bullcrap, others like me don't think it's that big of a deal and that it's legit. I dunno, it's just opinion, as I enjoyed FFVI a little more than VII.

I agree with you xJTxRipperx, it's gotta be Kefka. I mean, Sephiroth has so many fans, no one likes Kefka; that's just how evil he is. I hate Kefka. Personally, I think that he tried his best to make the game worse. He turned the pretty sky and land and water to crap, separated the whole group, etc.

You guys are gonna make me replay that again aren't you? lol I'll check it out... honestly though I didn't play those other games with Sephiroth in 'em. I saw Advent Children and was very disappointed with the way Seph got beat, too. Kefka, Kefka, Kefka...

Just to be different I am going to say Corvus from Dragon Quest 9. I really think that he is probably the closest thing to Satan in Dragon Quest ever.

Kefka and Sephiroth are weak compared to the power of Gigyas.

They cannot comprehend the true form of Gigyas's attack! Kefka and Sephiroth couldn't stop crying!

Gigyas is an insane psychic alien bent on destroying the Earth, and he has no physical form. No other villain can beat that.

I'm gonna jump on the band wagon and say Kefka too. Not because of his powers, but because of his ruthlessness and ability to accomplish what he set out to do. Sephiroth is awesome don't get me wrong, but he didn't accomplish what he set out to do. Yeah he killed a main character, but not only was she a pansy but her back was turned, very awe inspiring.
Sephiroth is too popular if you ask me. Fan girls and ff7 fanatics have ruined his image immensely. But not only that, he's not as ruthless as Kefka. If it came down to a fight, Kefka would whoop the crap outa Sephiroth.
Plus I can't think of another villain besides Kefka who wasn't stopped by the good guy before he could accomplish his task.

Kefka reminds me a lot of the Joker from The Dark Knight, and makes me wonder if they borrowed the idea from FF VI. Although he's not my favorite villain, I'd have to say he definitely could take the cake.
