I think what happens to Pokemon inside a Pokeball is similar to what happens to a bug in a caccoon. The Pokemon liquefies, then when the button is pressed, *WHAMMO* back to normal form.

My answer is sort of like O-zone's and vizwiz123's answer combined. The Pokeball holds a certain paradise depending on the type of the Pokemon inside it. The Pokemon can even heal inside the Pokeball... well, not in the games, but in the anime and pretend play they do.

I'd have to agree with the "paradise in a ball" theory. The stronger the ball, the greater the paradise. The Master & Luxury balls must have some great stuff inside them.

Strange that a pokeball can catch only pokemon and not humans but I believe that the pokemon inside can see or hear everything that's outside the pokeball. Pikachu must have been cooped up in a pokeball and placed in a lab for quite some time and probably longed for freedom.

No time passes at all until you release it again from the ball. Thats why you never see a Pokemon go in as like a Charmeleon and come out a Charizard. I think its never happened anyways
