I RAN A 29:57 8k TODAY!!!! Woooooo!!!!

For those not in the know, I run cross country at the NCAA D3 Level. Today, we had the State of Maine Championships, and I finished with a time of 29:57. For those unaware, that is a pretty decent time, and a bit of a marker that most hope to cross in the sport.

So I am gonna just kick back and enjoy it, because I most certainly will not do this again at our next race. Too many hills =P

I wouldn't know much about Cross-Country, but you make your time seem like it was pretty good .

Basically I ran 5 miles. Each of those miles was run in about 6 minutes.

That's really fast. My friend his fastest time was 27 minutes which I thought was insane! Good job on your time though.

It would take me quite a while to hit a marker like that. I'm in horrible physical condition right now, and am trying to hit the pool in order to get in shape.

You're amazing! Congratulations by the way! I am the slowest person ever! I can only do track because it's short distance. I have absolutely no stamina whatsoever. I can only run 100 meters and stuff like that. Plus, whenever I run a mile, I always get like 8 minutes or 9 minutes. I'd never be able to run 6 miles and each of them are 6 minutes, so congratulations!

Well, my fastest mile ever was 4:50. But 6 per mile for 5 miles is not bad. I do track a little too, I am more of a sprinter than a distance runner, but I made the transistion very well. Now I am PROBABLY a better distance runner.

4:50?!!! Are you effing kidding me? You're kidding right? 4:50! I feel like a snail now. I bet you are a better long distance runner now considering your time. Were you first in your race or were there other faster people? I AM SUCH A SNAIL! What's your best time for the 100 yard dash?

hl54322 : I never ran the 100, I ran the 200 in some off races, and my time was around 25 seconds. Enough to qualify for states.

I did run a 4:50 mile. It's very possible but afterwards I cant run another mile, I was far from first in the race I ran a 5:15 first mile. I'm fast but not the fastest.

Around 25 seconds???!!!! HOW AM I SO SLOW???? I get like around 15-20 seconds just for a 100. And I can't believe that there are faster people than you. But god, you're so fast! Y'know that you are going to do awesome when track starts. So I'm guessing, you've made tryouts every year?

And no, I'm pretty much retired from track, I stopped running last year, although now I run strictly cross country. I run 5k road races year round now. My time is like 17:40 now.

Oh, you've never done tryouts? Well, there are like a bazillion (don't even know if that's a real number) people who tryout for track but since there is a certain time limit for practice and room, some people don't make it. You just run laps and if you're one of the fastest you get chosen to be in the team. Ok, so you run 5k races and end with a result of 17:40. Are you an alien or something? (In a good way) Ok, if I tried to run a 5k my time would be at least 30 minutes or more. My limit is 3 miles before I break down. I'll never be able to run cross country for my life! But do you still practice even when cross country isn't available? Like cross country is in the fall, basketball's in the winter, track is in the spring, etc.?

I don't eat right, I never sleep, I don't practice in the offseason, and I generally don't run in a way you would associate with running, but somehow I am a fast runner. Tryouts sound fun I guess, meet cool people and work hard at it, my high school team was like 25 guys and no one is ever cut from our team. In college (1 season) I ran with 7 other guys, so that's new to me.

Well for a guy, a 17:40 is like a 21-22 I think for a girl. I can run for like 12 miles without stopping although its a real stretch.

I love basketball, but I don't play it to practice. I play it to just have fun with friends. I am a high school level varsity bench player. Not GREAT, but good enough to hold my own against anyone.

Oh I play basketball, but I didn't try out this year since I'm already way tooooooo busy. But probably next year, I'll try out.

I'm a freak of nature, too. But you don't seem like one to me. I mean, I eat way TOO much. I am a PIG. You should see me on Thanksgiving which is tomorrow so Happy Thanksgiving lol. Well I should be really fat, but I'm ok. I still think I'm fat, but people say I'm skinny (they're just trying to be nice) lol. Tryouts are ok, but I'd rather just skip it since it's just 2 extra hours of like running only a 500 yard or something.

Ok, so you can run 12 miles without stopping???? As I told you before, my limit is at 3 miles! I can't even join the cross country team because they run like 15 miles every practice. Y'know what? I'm convinced I'm a snail lol. Hey, I know this is random but are hippos slow? You'll understand why I ask soon.

I don't have a runner's metabolism, I'm just weird. Well, I weigh 102 lbs. and I'm 5'4'' but that's fat for 5'4''! Except I don't really care that I'm getting fat, I've accepted my fate. XD

Can hippos even run? Well, I guess they're slow. I wanted to know since I'm super slow and I wanted to call myself something like snail and then my name. But my name doesn't start with an S, it starts with an H (Heather, I HATE my name). So now, I can call my Hippo Heather but now that I think about it, it just sounds stupid. Oh well, I'm stupid and weird like that so whatevs.... lol
