Well, after first playing Final Fantasy 7 I was a bit busy and didn't have much time for it then, and never played it again but after completing crisis core: final fantasy 7 I feel like I should play it again, now that I have more time on my hands.
I need everybody's opinion on whether I should give it another shot

EDIT: got it now and could people recommend some names?

I don't see why you wouldn't, if you bothered playing Crisis Core, then you should play FF7. It's a pretty good game anyway, so I'm sure you will like it!

If it were me I would put my own name as the main character and people that I like as the other characters. If you want to mix it up you can always name the characters after anime or manga characters you like, it all depends on the person playing the game. Again this is only my opinion name them whatever you like.

Stick with the original names, I've never understood why someone would want to change the name of the Main character, that's like changing the storyline.

Yeah, I have to agree with that.
The story writers gave the characters names for a reason, so why change the story, even if only a tiny bit.
It wont make the game any better. Though I suppose it wont make the game any worse in this case either...

I were to play FF7 right now I would have a name for Red XIII. I own a techno CD from years and years ago. The first track on it is called "Storm Animal". I liked the song, and still do. Whenever I listened to it I always pictured a vicious, but intelligent wolf-like animal with sharp claws and teeth that cast powerful magic that created "storms" based on what color of fur was erect and pointing outwards (tan for sand storms, gray for severe thunderstorms, white for blizzard, reddish for fire storm and black for meteor storm). I enjoyed visioning it fighting and it became one of my favorite characters I've made up. Since then any game I've played with a wolf-like creature that was playable (and nameable) I've named "Storm". In fact, if I ever get a dog I'm going to name him Storm.

Maybe that will give you an idea of how to go about choosing names.
