I know somebody online who works at Nintendo as a Programmer, and he's been told that he might start working on a new SSB game for the 3DS. I was really excited hearing this.

A 3D SSB should be interesting. Definitely a new take on the game and it could provide a completely different feel for the game. When Mortal Kombat took the 3D route the series never went back to 2D. So doing this with SSB may very well change the layout of the series forever, should it continue after this one.

I think it's probably too soon for a new SSB game. Additionally, if they were to make it for the DS, it would have to be much smaller than the other games (except maybe the original). They would have to make fewer stages, trophies, and other features, which are a lot of the interesting parts of the game. As far as moving in 3 dimensions, the series should stay away from that. What makes the SSB series the most unique is that the controls are simple, but flexible, and moving in 3 dimensions would only complicate it and bring a slew of problems. --------------------  |

I stand corrected. The 3DS games are supposed to be able to hold 2gb of data, while a Gamecube disc holds only 1.5gb. Even with storing data on the cartridge, it should still have more data than the Gamecube game. However, I still think the game should stick to 2D movement. I stand corrected. Well, I personally don't think that this is going to happen, and if it does, it probably won't happen anytime soon, but if a SSB for the 3DS came out, I would definitely, %100 chance, buy it.
