Well I finally had enough with allowing Trusted Members and people with 250+ posts to make layouts. Videogamegod had a pornographic picture of a vagina for his layout background, although it wasn't his fault this was enough for me to just disable it for now.

The layouts will be disabled for these users until 1 or more of the following features are implemented:
-Layout approval (all layouts would have to be approved by a staff member)
-Layout ban (can ban a specific user from doing layouts if they've been warned about making a crappy layout and continue)
-Vizzed hosted (images in layout have to be hosted by vizzed, would allow users to upload graphics for their layout)
-Layout Assistant (basically a privilege I grant to people who are good at making layouts who can, with permission, edit other user's layouts in order to help them)

If you really want to change your layout, PM the Administrators account and JigSaw or I will get around to updating your layout.

I am going to have to say no to Layout Ban simply for the fact that its you either know how to code or you dont. If you knew how to code you would not have missing table tags and what not.

Layout approval is good. I think what we need is a site staff who will make layouts for others. These people must follow guidelines to good layout making. Few rules could be:

1. Readibility - Some layouts are dam near impossible to read
2. Layout Size in KB's - Should have certain limits on that and optimized for the web
3. I would like it if all layouts scanned 100% horizontally it looks horrible seeing 500px width then 800px width and a bunch of other random widths that don't match with the site. Horizontal scrolling is a pain that is worse then the layouts that are taller then skyscrapers.

I totally agree with everything Jigsaw has said. Layout approval pretty much takes care of all the obvious problems... obnoxious graphics, difficult to read, take too long to load, etc.
The width thing is really annoying for me, I have to scroll sideways all the time so I totally agree with the 100% width requirement.

I'm all for this. I'm always tempted to turn layouts off every time I see a post that I have to highlight just to read.
Will they still be able to use premade layouts? And if they can maybe it would be a good time to make some more.

yeah, sorry about that, something went wrong with the image hosting. But I just want to say that Noelia made my layout.

These two are the ones I support (considering one of them I mentioned before, it's no wonder I would support it )
-Vizzed hosted. Always a good idea, prevents little mishaps happening like VGG had happen to him.
-Layout Assistant. I'll just mention what I did before.
We have a special rank that only those that are good at making layouts would have.
Staff of course also have this rank by default.
A "Layout creator" ranked member can then go to users profile, click "update layout" and edit the layout, then click submit and it would say "layout update confirmed, awaiting user approval for use".

joebab : Yeah, we shouldn't be required to read highlight someones post just because their layout is so crappy that the actual content is to hard to read.

Another thing that bugs me is when layouts have so much text and stuff in them that you don't even know what the content is.

And yeah users would still be able to use premade layouts, I'll probably make a few more but I'll also have everyone who wants to be come a 'Layout Assistant' have a test and that test would be to make a layout and if that layout is good and approved, not only does the user become a 'Layout Assistant', their layout also becomes available as a premade layout.



DarkHyren : Yeah I'd like to make it so all images in layouts are hosted here to avoid the situation with VGG and to also avoid the situation which happened to a lot of Bigbobs posts, where his images now require a username and password to use. Oh another reason is that sometimes images become unavailable which makes the layout look like crap.



Overall I think vizzed board posts will look far more attractive after these updates. I love seeing cool layouts so that feature I'll never want to get rid of but I just don't think everyone is capable of making a decent layout.

i think this is a good idea, although, i think that at least global mods should be allowed to edit layouts too. i like the idea of having a test for it, cause there are shops for layouts in the vizzed market [which most of it pretty much is] so having a test would be good cause those shop owners can prove that they are worthy of making/ editing their/others layouts, so i think this is all a great idea, just a bit of changes that i think should happen. and one question, what will happen to those shops? cause i think that till the test is made, it will be a lot for the admins to handle, with working on the site and all.

Also I want to start with the Premade Layouts again, so regular users can choose between many layouts that have been put out by staff.
I think that maybe there should be a layout approval thread... if the layout is approved then the Global+ who approves it can directly add it to the person's layout, so that the trusted or below can't edit it them self, but by pasting the code above and below where they type can make a layout to show in the layout approval thread.

So yeah I like:

- Layout Approval
- Vizzed Hosted
- Layout size in KB
- Only Trusted+ having "approved" layouts, but regular members not having layouts whatsoever, no matter how many posts they have...
- Elite+ being able to edit their own layouts
- Global+ being able to edit other people's layouts.

The only way to make it work in Chrome also, was to make it look a bit strange in firefox.

I guess we were pretty much asking for trouble when someone decided "hey, let's allow people to use HTML code for all kinds of crap in their layouts." I'm totally behind having changes to layouts moderated.
_{This is only really annoying for me, because my dragon egg has died and I'm going to have to replace it somehow. Not being able to change my layout makes a small change like that annoying and the lack thereof... awkward.}

What are the odds of that happening? It's very strange of what people put up nowadays. I see nothing about this being noelias fault, I think probably someone either hacked it, or he put a wrong number in the img source code resulting into the picture being changed. The only problem I see now, is if something happens like that and the admins can't get to it right away but I doubt it will happen again now that these features have been added. I just see it as strange how one small error could have done something like that. Only someone with bad luck, and posts a lot like him, could have it happened. It's all very confusing now.

Does this mean I have to get rid of this poorly made layout? I mean at least you can read it. All it really needs is a scroll bar.

If you need a "Layout Maker" staff member, I'll volunteer. If there's one thing I know, it's html and css.

Just throwing that out there.

Maybe I can get one of you to make me a layout, just need to design how I want it too look.
