I'm very pleased with how many people competed in this competition. It was pretty close between toadnick and supermariobros1985, also great job to them for their scores, it's a pretty big jump in score between 3rd and 4th.

Davideo7 : You know, repeatedly jumping on those turtle shells at the end of stage 3-1 to get infinite 1-ups. (Which, as it turns out, isn't infinite, because if you get too many lives, the game punishes you with a game over when you die, and it's nearly impossible to tell when you hit this amount. However, if you get enough lives, the counter will actually reset back to 1 life. But again, without dying, there is no immediate way to tell this.)

And yes, I know 1-ups don't increase your score. But you do gain thousands of points each time you go through the process, and if you keep your life counter balanced, it is entirely possible to break your score by a lot with enough patience. I just didn't because the game kept lagging horribly.
