I don't suppose I've actually lost a friend, but sometimes you can be so far from someone literally or figuratively that you kind of feel like you're not friends anymore, you know ?
Has anyone ever experienced this or worse? How does that feel?

I've lost a friend in a pretty sad death. He was a friend of the family and even though we weren't related we considered him part of our family. He died at a pretty young age (for his type of cancer anyways) he had colon and testicular cancer at age 39 right before his 40th birthday. It's only been like 5 months since his death but we are still very sad and having a hard time moving on from his death. We are gonna have a rembrance of him in August. But yeah, it sucks losing a friend especially one you knew for a long time and grew up with.
But hey, he's in a better place now and watching over our family. [R.I.P Anastacio Buendia]

I didn't lose just a friend,
but I've lost my best friend
We were superclose since junior high school, but now(actually since 2007) we are at different universities. I'm at the north and she is at the south of our country...
We still talking on the phone and see each other(only a few times per year), but it's not the same

Yeah I know what you mean, that must be rough .
Ever since I've moved away from my old home it seems like all my friends that I used to know back there are slipping away from my life. It's like they don't really know me anymore. I hope to see them soon when I go and visit but I wonder if they'd even welcome me back or if they actually want me to return.

I've had 5 or 6 best friends 5 of them moved away most the first year. Really weird since they move then leave. Everyone in our school is practically moving this year because the teachers can't teach.

I havnt had any friends die on me, but several people that I thought were friends stabbed me in the back.
So I cut off all ties to them and for all I care they can rot
Needless to say I am alot more careful now and dont really trust people easily...

I've had a friend die and desert me. It sucks, but it just show's who is really your friend in regards to being deserted. As for a friend dieing, it happened a few years back. I was mostly just in shock about it.

It was during the summer of 2007, I did not know or anyone else in the school in that matter, but when school did started her sister usually cried when someone tells the name of her brother. Soon everyone knew what happened to him during the summer. Apperantly, he died from a rottweiler chasing him eventually getting his neck stuck on the barb wire , killing him instantly. Few weeks of school since people knew was pretty dull and depressing.

Over the years I've lost friends from either them moving away or just losing touch. I've never lost a friend to death and I am so thankful for that. Unfortunately, sometimes people lose touch or drift apart. There are even times I wish I handled things differently. But when you're a kid, you don't really know the things you do as an adult. And you don't know how to deal with certain situations.
