And no the Thread Description contains no spelling errors.

I just wanted to complain about my Toshiba Laptop. It continues to have hardware problems that i can't help. First it was a powersurge that fried the hard drive now the modem is screwed... It doesn't even go on the net and when i decide to hook it up it don't work...

Anyone have any idea where Sydney is in Australia?
Well it goes there first....
How about Adeliade?
Cause then it goes there!!!
My laptop has been to more states than what i have!!! Than it has to come back again the same way!!
If you don't know where those cities are look on Google for a map of Australia. It'll show ya.

Does anyone else have problems like this?
Anyone hate Toshiba?

I have a Toshiba "Satellite" Laptop, and I havevn't had any troubles with it. I also got it new several months ago for $2000

But yeah, Laptops get worn out way faster that desktops do.

Well if you wanan get technical i'm sure ur computer's parts have been in more states then the laptop.

Laptop don't actually wear anymore then a regular computer. If you have them both sit in an identical ideal computer atmosphere they wouldn't differ too much in what happens to it. Now if you leave a laptop in a hot place with a PC the PC will definately outlive the laptop as the proccessor cooling systems are useually better in PC then laptops.

Alot of computer hard drives fry when the power goes out. Almsot every single peace of electronics can fry if the power in just cut out or surged into it. I broke my tv just from shocking(a shock from my finger), and after it was repaired it was perfectly fine. When you get a shock from a console system controller(if and when you do) your tv screen flashes black. Its the same as taking a tazzer and shocking a person with it in the head. Harddrives even shorten their own lives everytime you turn ON your computer and yet you expect a computer to survive a power surge?

The reason laptops DO wear out faster than desktops is, everytime you carry it around, and you set it down, taht shakes it enough to cause damage. I've read all about this in Pc Mag.

I guess that means my laptop will have a long life expectancy
I rarely take it places, I just have it sat down at my table, and have it there all day, maybe like twice a month do I take it somewhere.

As far as harddrives go...they have disks inside them that move at 7200 RPM's on average, alot of people leave their computers on all day. Your car runs at around 3000 or so RPM's right? would you expect it to last 10 years if you left it on all day?

What im trying to say is a hard drive is a mechanical part, sometimes things just happen.

Harddrives don't go 7200 RPMs constant too much anymore. Most people that leave their comp on all day set it up so windows XP goes into a powersaving mode slowing down everything.

I really would like a powerful laptop and a powerful desktop, then several other machines for random testing and to make up a network. Right now I only have a decent desktop and a few broken scrapped machines.

Dont worry I would never even dream of abusing Phil Collins.....once I get another PC ill put him into use. Although my mom was complaining about how I have random people's monitors.....

I found this badass powerful laptop that Pwnz my desktop into the next continent. If you run the thing at full speed while just doing normal things its so powerful that you only get an hour of life from a single battery. Ill try to find a link, it costs 3.3k so im not getting it soon but dammmmmmn do I want it.

Yeah thats the main problem with Laptops, they are always more expensive and always gain faster processor speeds a month or two after a desktop PC would have had it.
