Ive been interested in Atlantis since elementary school. I do think that maybe there was some kind of advanced civilization. But maybe the Egyptian priest somewhat exaggerated in his stories, I mean you could've blown their minds by showing them a cigarette lighter back then. To me its something that you would want to be true just because how cool the stories are.

No more so then any other creation mythos though, the greek gods are about as likely as any other set of gods or god really.

On the subject of whether or not they were advanced, I think you have to consider what "advanced" means.
In the context of the days of Atlantis the technology might very well have been advanced compared to the rest of the world.
Probally simple things we take for granted would have been the advanced technology, like boiling water to make it sterile and cleanliness for example.

Was Atlantis a real place? Probally. Was it advanced? Maybe.
Where is it? Who knows, probally under our noses, someplace that we call by another name.
How was it destroyed/was it destroyed? Once we find where it was then we'll at least have an idea of that.
Perhaps it was never sunk to the bottom of the ocean but instead was wiped out by a plague, perhaps the Atlantians did take over the world but they spread their forces too thin and were wiped out by the nomadic tribes.
Lastly, was it made by gods? I dont know, I'll let you know when I meet one

OK, you guys know it's coming, so I'll just get it out of the way.

There is some biblical basis for the existence of places like Atlantis: a rich, prosperous, MAYBE futuristic civilization chooses to indulge in greed and worldly excess, so an otherworldly power decides to wipe out the evil with a flood that destroys everything. Noah's flood was world changing enough, it's not impossible that islands would literally sink forever. I mean, if we're talking about a global flood rather than a local disaster, the continents themselves would have been totally reshaped (in fact, the Bible hints that Pangea breaking up would have happened some time after Noah's flood)

Right, now that we've gotten that over with, from a geographical point of view, there are a lot of sites where it's been theorized Atlantis could be, but I've never heard of anything actually being found in any of those sites. Like JigSaw said, it could be as simple as diving down and taking a look, but that's what they said about Nessie :p

I know this island may look familiar to you, but it seems to sink into the ocean whenever I'm trying to find it on a world map, so CLEARLY THIS MUST BE ATLANTIS!!!

There is a small chance that Atlantis exists. I think that there has to be some facts/ truth in the legend but not a whole lot.

Perhaps, atlantis is also a story about the huge cataclysm that happend on the earth, long time ago!
