When you post the URL to a link, it now becomes a clickable link automatically. When you post an image URL, the image now becomes viewable automatically. No need to place url or img tags around your stuff anymore (although you can if you want and it wont interfere with the new feature, the new feature will simply ignore your post than).

Now for newbies, here's what I've done for them. Before they cannot post any viewable images or clickable links. If they post a url of an image that's located on vizzed.com, it becomes viewable, all other images will not be viewable; same concept applies for when they post urls.

What triggered this idea was the screenshot contest I'll be having every month. Some users post pictures and don't make them viewable. Newbies will also post in there and they are unable to make their pictures viewable. In a contest like that, it's important that all images are viewable and it's a hassle for me to go through every post and make everyones images viewable. This also saves some of us a lot of time, especially me because there's times when I have to post a ton of links. Overall, this just makes life on vizzed even better

EDIT: Feel free to try out the feature in this thread by posting an image url or a link url.

((Hmm... an interesting note. Originally, it said "http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Garchomp_(Pokemon)" ... but the link was only made up to the underscore... now on sites like Wikipedia and Bulbapedia and other Wikis, that last part is rather important, specifying which article to go to. Is there some way that can be fixed?))

It's a good thing I allowed people to test it out, there's already a flaw. Underscores throw it off, will work on fixing this.

Not sure how much I like the whole "no links for newbies" thing, but i suppose it isnt the worst feature either.

So when I place these links they will appear as if I had wrapped them in html or BBCode?
I noticed it doesnt show them wrapped if we preview, but that's no huge thing.
I'm guessing it works based on reading http:// that if it sees that it encapsulates it.
Randomly, does it do the same for ftp:// ?

DarkHyren : It doesn't support FTP but I suppose I could make it support it. It knows to wrap the img and url tags around the url's using Regular Expressions. For example, here's the code that wraps url tags around a link only if it's located on vizzed and only if it isn't an image:

Newbies can still post links but they just wont be clickable or viewable unless they're located on vizzed. This is to prevent abuse such as advertising and posting gay porn pictures (which both have happened multiple times in the past).

DarkHyren : Yes it supports https, wouldn't be to difficult adding ftp support but I don't see it being necessary. I agree, http should be what triggers it.

This is my newbie forum reply... the new system's putting [url ][ /url] before and after each link even if they already had the codes... unless I edit my post, It'll appear like this.
