Have you ever caught a legendary with a POKEBALL? I almost did once...

Yup. Lugia, gold version. I remember it so much, I even remember my anger after it happened. I had like 30 ultra balls, ten great balls, and ten pokeballs. After I had paralyzed him and brought out my toughest defense, with a few lemonades to keep it alive, I kept chucking ultra balls at him, figuring one of em must work. When those ran out, I switched to chucking great balls, which were even worse, then as a joke I started throwing pokeballs, just to waste time. Yeah, my first pokeball worked. I was mad at the irony... Lol

No. That seems kind of challenging to do. I only just caught legendary pokemons with masterballs and ultra balls.

Hey, is there a technique of cathing harder pokemons like alternating R and L, or just rapidly pressing A or B, or just holding them both? Thanks if you answer because I want to know different ways on how to catch pokemons.

BreakDown : I always alternate between pressing right and left every time the ball shakes and it sometimes helps.

Yes, several times. With the older version though, It was pretty awesome catching Lugia, Suicune, Raikou, and Entei, so simple back then.
Though some with ultra balls, but still not a master ball, eh? I never used the masterball in the older versions I was quite proud of that. xD

Yep, I caught Dialga in Diamond Version in it. Funny thing is, I forgot to buy ultra balls before I started the battle, and I only had 7 Poke Balls. I weakened to 1 HP and put it to sleep, tossed a Poke Ball, and it worked on my first try. Sweet, easy victory

I actually caught one with a great ball, but I never tried a pokeball before.
It is possible though.

I actually never thought of it being possible, even by burning it and confusing it and lowering all it's stats. I've tried...hasn't worked. Ultra ball has been my only non-master ball legendary catch.

I never caught a legendary with a Pokeball and I have tried to but I couldn't catch it.

I'm pretty sure I haven't, but that's mainly because I've never tried. I have enough trouble as it is at times when the legendary has 1HP and is paralyzed or sleeping while using ultra ball. I'm defiantly not patient enough to try pokeballs.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I managed to get Raikou in a Fast Ball. No damage, no status, just the first "Wild Raikou appeared!" in Gold. (I was a stupid little child at the time, so I stuck it in Day Care next to my Ho-oh, who, of course, was caught in a Pokeball at full health with no status in a Loveball while facing a female pokemon. Figures). But now, when I actually use strategy to try to catch stuff (Smeargle: Super Fang, Spore, False Swipe, Mean Look for the roamers in HG/SS), it doesn't work. Heart Gold Raikou has 1 HP, is asleep, and still manages to break out of 35 Ultra Balls before Roaring away. Of course.
Back on subject, I caught nearly every single legendary in ridiculous Pokeballs, such as Lugia in a Moon Ball (I'm not sure what my thought process was for that, but I was just a little kid then, I guess), in Gold. All I can say is Random Number Generators loved me, but now they just hate me SOOO much. (once again, Raikou. I WILL get YOU!)
I got Celebi in a Pokeball in Crystal, but it has a 45 Catch Rate, so I don't think it really counts. (Wow, long post)

No, I usually use lots of ultra-balls in order to catch a pokemon, especially a rare one.

I caught Groudon with a nest ball when it was a higher level than me, which comes to the same effect.

One time. Mewtwo. Never happened again.

I somehow managed to get it's HP to 1 and I had previously frozen it with Blastoise's Ice Beam.
I realized at that moment that I forget to get any Ultra Balls and I only had a Pokeball with me. I used it and I couldn't believe it when it happened. Good times.

I swear I'm not lying when I say I caught Mewtwo, at full health, with a Pokeball. It wasnt't even asleep or paralyzed! There's a trick (in Red/Blue/Yellow) where if you press and hold Select and B at the exact moment that the Pokeball appears on the screen, it will (about 80% of the time) act as a Masterball. I've caught Zapdos, Moltres, Snorlax, and even a level 62 Chansey the same way.

I could never catch legendaries in Yellow. Period. With our without Poke/ Great/ Ultra/ Master balls. No matter how many times I chuck the stupid think at said legendary, I would always get the text "You missed the Pokemon!" I mean seriously, Moltres is a 6 ft 7 inch giant flaming bird that is asleep. How bad can you be at aiming if you can't even hit the thing?
hypermonkey : where did you find the level 62 Chansey? The only ones are in the Safari Zone (which don't even use Poke Balls) or in Cerulean Cave (which only has level 56 Chanseys. I think)
~Edit~ Blue: Moltres was asleep. It still kept missing.

~sakura~ : it was in the cave by Cerulean. It might have been a slightly lower level, but I don't think it was. It was on the same level as Mewtwo where they are really powerful.

hypermonkey : oh, ok. I was just wondering so I could catch myself a Chansey in Yellow without having to go through the Safari Zone nightmare. (Of course, I "missed the pokemon!" there too. Seriously, Yellow. Big Pink blob. Throw the baseball sized object at it. Object hits pokemon, pokemon is captured. Of course, Yellow never missed with a rock or bait.)

I have. In red version i caught mewtwo with a pokeball. In silver i caught Ho-Oh with one. In ruby i caught groudon. In diamond i caught dialga. in soulsilver i caught suicune. It is possible though very hard to do. its mostly lucky of the draw though.

Blue : That same thing happen to me, when i ran out of ultra balls.
