WHAT THE?! I was shocked to see Hollywood doing a remake on a good movie[imo]. Do they not stop with the crap that they spew out? I know this is sounding like a rant and partially it is. But why would they destroy the image of the Karate Kid with.....

Yeah that is a little crazy, I mean I understand they are trying to give Will Smith kid a good movie to star in but that doesn't mean you use a classic and kill it with this. Besides Jackie Chan just is ruining his own image with this in my mind. It's a low budget film and I guess this is what you get with those kind of films. Just seems like a waste!

I was pretty mad when I heard about this. The Original was a great movie and it's not like it came out 50 years ago, so why remake it? And they did a poor job at remaking it for what I've seen so far. I'm definitely not racist but what's the deal with making the Karate Kid black? It also irritated me when they made Cat Woman black (dc movie), the Kingpin black (marvel movie) and Nick Fury black (marvel movie). I'd be equally mad if they, for example, made Blade (a black marvel hero) white.

Anyways, looks very low budget.

Yeah I know! There was nothing wrong with the first Karate Kid, I found it great and enjoyed watching it. I'm a fan of Jackie, great actor, but really? Remake the Karate Kid? It just looks bad it's like they think they can top a great classic. I'm just flabbergasted at why Hollywood thinks they need to do a remake of everything. From Alice in Wonderland[Haven't seen it yet so I don't know if it's good or bad] to Batman[The Dark Knight was not good in my opinion I found it boring up until the Joker showed up and he was the main attraction in the movie]. I won't be shocked if after this movie flops they'll redo the 2nd one[which that wasn't AS good but it was "ok" and I use that lightly]

This is just horrible... this movie is gonna get some real crap ratings thats for sure

The original movie could relate to a lot of us. How can anyone take this movie seriously knowing that the comedian Jackie Chan and Will Smiths son are in it? Jackie Chan is a great actor but when I think of him I think of the rush hour "DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH". I also don't take a black kid in asia storyline seriously.

They are trying to hard to make this movie based on racism against blacks, at least the first one wasn't based on race rather just plain bullying. Reason I say that is cause you got 1 black kid around a bunch of asians. Doesn't that give you some major racial vibes? I think so. This new movie took the old classic and put a racist spin on it, good work hollywood.

I made a similar reply when they made Knuckles "black" in Sonic adventure 2 (and I was thinking something similar when I sew Shadow (my least favorite and one of the only characters in the Sonic series which I actually can say "hate" for stealing Sonic's fame )

I think this is going to be poorly made, it is like remaking an old game and give it 3D, there is really not point. ( I like to see ping and pac-man in 3D, that will be the best game ever )

Oh and the question mark makes it like the guy who came up with this idea was drunk, no maybe worst, was on drugs.

I am NOT going to watch this, not at all going to even THINK about it.

Yeah, I think that they are ruining a beautiful thing by remaking it. I know that Jackie Chan is getting older now and he might need a movie remake for his photo finish, Jaden Smith needs a crappy movie to start off with (Isn't that what Pursuit of Happiness was for?)
but Hollywood doesn't know what crap they are cranking out, Which causes them to just make everything worse. I got confused and angry now so I'm ending my post with : D'oh, Hrrrnnnmmmpppphh!

More signs that Hollywood is dying. No creativity, just cranking our remakes, reboots, and s***ty sequels (how many Saw movies are there now?) Granted some remakes are good, like the new Clash of the Titans (love the claymation original, but the CG looks so cool), or the Star Trek movie... but things like this, where they take a movie from your childhood and do a remake of it, not even a good remake, but a s***ty remake... that is going too far.

I don't really know the story line they are going with so I can't comment on black kid in asia. I'm not necessarily upset about that, since it can be done right. Like Nick Fury, I think Samuel L Jackson is a good Nick Fury acting wise and that was why he was chosen. Same with Kingpin. They fit the role in all ways but skin color, and that doesn't matter. I don't think that Jaden Smith fits the role of the Karate Kid. I'm sorry, I just don't.

I think I can make one assumption for this movie.

It's going to be way better than The Next Karate Kid.

i dunno the original karate kid movies werent that great, they have just become classics over the years. i didnt really see this as a racial movie i saw the trailer it doesnt look like they were going that route. it seems like people here are jumping the gun. you havent even seen the movie yet. and im not going to lie i was like "wow theyre really doing this" even when i saw it. but who knows i felt the same way about star trek and that movie was awesome. and how are you going to diss pursuit of happiness that movie was pretty good, you must be rich or never really been broke

With the fact that they added Jayden, they turned it into one BLACK boy moving from where ever trying to fit in. Which brings up the whole racial thing.

This movie is about one kid from america moving to china, somewhere new, and being picked on because he isnt chinese. The original was about a kid moving to sumwhere new, and getting picked on because he isnt cobra kai. But I guess if you see it as "one BLACK boy moving from where ever trying to fit in." thats your problem.
