I'd personally recommend Avast, it has given me the least problems, none actually.


But if that doesn't suit your fancy, then there's also AVG, MSE or Avira, but I find them inferior to Avast.



And yes, all of those are free.

But yeah, those .EXE files are from trusted sources, and there's no danger in downloading them.

I work for an ISP now and have been doing IT for 6 years now and get to see alot of systems and what AV they've had when they get taken out by some nasty virus. So far I'd have to say AVG (I use this on at home) and Avast are great. Another program that is excellent is Malware Bytes which is not a true AV but excellent for removing things already on your system. Also a registry and hard drive cleaner like CCleaner is excellent to have. Hope that's helpful!!!

Just teasing man. Norton is usualy a paid antivirus, I think zeldster wants a free one. I use the paid McAfee myself.
