why is christian muslim and judaism so similar? they nearly have the same believes. did one of those beliefs copy one another in the past or something? because they always seem like there fighting over the same thing in jerusalem.

I am not sure I can argue why but I think they all believe in god, and they obviously think they are right and the others are wrong so they sometimes kill each other over it. Quite entertaining If they all believe in god they should get along but that is not the case...

I forgot to tell yall i'm christian. i'm not bashing anybody's beliefs i'm just curious about how the 3 religions got to be almost the same.

All three have different enough beliefs that we are not going to treat each other as from the same religion, JS, although I do agree we need to stop fighting. But that doesn't mean we should stop evangelizing.

The reason they are so similar is because they all originated from one man: Abraham. Muslims follow the line of Abraham's son Ishmael, whose mother was one of Sarah's servants. Christianity came through Judaism. God instituted Judaism through Abraham's line as a sort of placeholder to protect his people from Hell until the time was right for Jesus. Now, all the strict rules of Judaism are unnecessary because of Jesus' sacrifice; Judaism only remains because many Jewish people did not want to believe Jesus was the messiah.

During the time of the Roman Empire, the Christians broke away from the Jews, beleiving the messiah had come to this earth. I believe Islam formed at the time, or shortly after Judaism. The muslims worship someone called Haman, which is basically the opposite of Moses. According to Judaism, he wanted to kill all of the Jews. According to Islam, he is the same thing, but portrayed as the good guy. My theory is that Islam and Judaism were born of the same event and one side worshiped one being, and the other side worshiped that being's opposite, at least in eachother's eyes.

Islam did not form even remotely close to Judaism or Christianity.

Moses is considered by most to be the starter of Judaism.... he got the 10 commandments and wrote the 5 books of Moses which contains the laws and ordinances that they Jews/Israelites followed.

Christianity came up as a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Jesus led this group and when he died Peter took over and the church sprang up from the 12 apostles ministries throughout the mediteranian region (I know I spelld that wrong )

Islam showed up 600 years AFTER Christianity. And early on Mohammed has no problem with either the Jews or the Christians. However early on his religion wasn't catching on with the people around him so his tune started to change. He started to become not only a religious leader but also a civil leader. He got control of armies and territory and went on a bloody campaign of conversion and conquest.


So, 3 very different beginnings to religions but all springing up from a common ancestor in Abraham.

His tune didn't really change that much. Jews and Christians are still allowed to exists peacefully in Muslim territory, they just need to pay the "heathen tax". Also, Muslims do not view Jesus as the Messiah, but as another prophet, just like Muhammad.

Well.... depends on which country you're talking about. Some "muslim" countries are peaceful, others not so much.

And if you look at the strategy employed once Muhammad got his base of power then I would say things changed quite a bit. He started a war against Jews and Christians that nearly resulted in all of Europe being taken over and "converted".

Well, he started it yes... but you have to remember the great changes that occurred after the Sunni/Shiite split. That was when you started to see a lot of violence. Also some of it was caused by direct antagonization from Byzantium.

They are all Abrahamic religions. They do all worship Jehovah, but they call Him something different (and no, I am not a Jehovah's Witness, it's just that "god" is a noun); Jews worship Yahweh, Christians worship Yeshua (Jesus is His Greek name), and Muslims worship Allah. They are likewise each other because they, in some way, have a connection to each other. Jews await the Messiah, and believe that Jesus was fake. Christians feel that Jesus was the Messiah. Muslims believe that all others before Muhammad were incorrect, and that Jesus will be in the Second Coming to prove Islam correct. To respond to your asking in one sentence, the bottom line is that they are likewise because they have the same roots and guidelines.

I actually see no similarities between Islam and the other 2. But there is some similarity between Judaism and Christianity in that Judaism has the old Testament. The biggest similarity is that all three came from the descendants of the line of Abraham.

Its because they are from the same place historically. Judaism and Christianity share the same Old Testament and many of the same beliefs. They all originate from a tiny little area in the Levant Region from a couple thousand years ago, when the Old Testament was actually happening. I'm not as sure about the roots of Islam, as I haven't studied Islam in detail yet, but I know that the beliefs originated around the same place as Judaism did.
Ironically, Islam states that every other religion that is not Islam is bad, even its sibling religions, Judaism and Christianity (at least, this is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong; I would hate to have something ridiculous up on the forums for a while)
