Pokemon Run & Bun is considered the hardest Pokemon ROM hack to Nuzlocke. It takes Nuzlocke veterans months to get through a single attempt. Has anyone tried it? I haven't, and I don't think I ever will. My Pokemon knowledge simply is not advanced enough.

Pokemon Challenges recently released a video about it, and it's absolutely brilliant. One of the best videos I've ever seen on YouTube.



Smallant is also trying to beat the game right now. He's been streaming his attempts on Twitch.

I have seen some stuff on this and I occasionally see small ants videos. He will have like a 30+ minute video for one battle and it is insane.

I really need to go back to watching Pokemon Challenges.. Youtube hasn't recommended his videos for me in so long.

Some of his more recent videos haven't been great. A lot of filler content just to meet sponsor deadlines. But the video I linked is an absolute masterpiece. It's over 3 hours long, but it is absolutely worth the watch.

I'm a very avid nuzlocker in my spare time. Pokemon Run & Bun is something I'm very much invested in. A few months ago I was going crazy trying to beat it but ended up falling short every time, my personal best is wiping to the Norman gym fight. Norman split is insane man, like what the actual hell. Bridge Rival is one of the hardest fights in the game, giant gauntlet of trainers to reach Petalburg and only like 1 encounter in the whole split. You essentially need a near flawless Wattson and a lucky box to have a chance at beating Norman's team.

I've taken a break from the game now, maybe this summer I'll try again. It's one of my favorite pokemon hacks out there as I really enjoy trying to solve the puzzle of every fight. The enemy teams are so well put together that even random trainers require a good 20-30 minute think most of the time.

If I still wanted to experience some challenging battles and puzzles, but I know I'm not skillful or knowledgeable enough to do a hardcore nuzzlocke, are there any modifications to the nuzlocke rules that you would suggest in order to make the game a bit more feasible for me to beat? Two encounters per area instead of one, maybe?

I haven't heard of this until now and I doubt I ever will attempt it. I didn't even try playing Pokemon competitively until a couple years ago so I don't even think I'm ready to try something that would take a lot of extra work.

In the future I might start it and see how I do and then decide from there if it's something that I actually want to try.

I had that video in my recommended a few days after it came out. I had never heard of PChal before watching the video, but there literally couldn’t have been a better introduction to a YouTuber than that. It was easily one of the best Pokémon videos I’ve ever seen (probably the best).

As far as if I’ll try it out myself, maybe I’ll try to beat the first gym at some point for lols, but I’m not going to spend months of my life trying to get a good run going and complete it.
