I know they are coming back in Z-A I mean for the mainline games.


Personally since I usually just play single player I wouldn't want them to come back unless GameFreak starts making the games harder. As of right now I think they are just too overkill for the main story of the game.

Like XY if you got it early you got the speed boost torchic with blazkinite. That thing for me basically steamrolled the game for me and it just lead to me being disappointed overall since even Lysandre Mega gyarados couldn't stand up to it.

pokemon x : I get what you mean but that game is so easy Ian AKA Furret beat it with a team all under 400 BST and I don't recall him having much issue.

I do want megas back for mainline since I think it's the most enjoyable gimmick for a playthrough.

I would prefer if megas came back as a visual/form aspect and not really as a gameplay mechanics. i feel like tying those designs to a gameplay feature was really a lost cause.

Absolutely. Mega Evolution is by far the most substantial, creative, and interesting gimmick GameFreak has had. Dynamaxing is shallow, dumb and lazy, Gigantamaxing is slightly better, and I don't know enough about Terastallization to really weigh in on it.

The bottom line is that Mega Evolution enhanced existing Pokémon and breathed new life into a lot of older, unused Pokémon like Pidgeot, Beedrill, and Mawile. You also don't need to memorize 100 new mechanics or forms since you're just unleashing potential a Pokémon already has.

I was firmly against mega Pokemon when they were first introduced, but they have grown on me over the years. I think the reason they have grown on me, though, is because the other gimmicks they've introduced are worse. Compared to Dynamax, terrastalization, etc. I'd prefer mega Pokemon. But honestly, I don't want any of them. There's nothing wrong with simplicity.

I liked Mega when they come out, they were simple but cool! Now there are all of these systems that I can't really keep up with, so I would love for Mega to make a return.

I think things were fine as they were with just normal Pokemon, but I understand why they wanted to go in the direction of super powerful Pokemon.

Now that they've started excluding a large number of pokemon from every game I would enjoy mega evolution to come back. With the national dex still in you'd eventually get like 100 or more of these things. That wouldn't be a problem if in the next region half of them just won't be available. Or make only the new mega evolutions available in a particular game.

Since I assume they will be moving all the online battling things to Pokemon Champions, they can just patch that game to include more new mega evolutions over time. We don't need every mega to be in a game for mega to be a fun addition.
