Pikachu gets points for being iconic in the anime and being the face of Pokémon, but objectively, Pikachu leaves a lot to be desired where viability is concerned. Pikachu's only good stat is its base 90 speed, with all of it's other stats being 50 or lower. With the defense of a wet napkin, Pikachu is pretty much guaranteed to die to a string shot from a Caterpie. Granted it's a non-fully evolved pokémon, but you're almost always better off evolving it into Raichu. I'll rate Pikachu a 4.5/10.

The next pokémon to rate is Garchomp.

Garchomp is one of the most iconic competitive Pokémon of all time, being a staple of OU for 5 generations. It's easy to see why with the dragon and ground type combo along with a stat line that was fantastic for it's time, especially it's base 130 base attack and 102 base speed. Even though gen 9 powercreep has finally knocked Garchomp down a few pegs, it's still a competitive Pokémon icon along with having a cool land shark design. Overall, I'm giving Garchomp a 9/10.

The next Pokemon to rate is my favorite of all time Lucario!

Lucario is a really solid pokémon and a staple on my team whenever I'm replaying Gen 4 (excluding the awful remakes of course). With great offensive stats, good speed,a strong movepool, and good typing, Lucario is an asset on any team as a dedicated physical, special, or mixed attacker. Overall, I'll give Lucario a 9/10.

The next pokémon to rate is Hippowdon.

Hippowdon's sand stream ability made has always made it a sand team staple. It has good bulk, and has always been known for being s stealth rock setter. Overall, it's always been a bulky threat. I also like how it has a different color depending on it's gender. Female being darker than it's male counterpart. Overall I'm giving Hippowdon an 8.

The next Pokémon to rate is Weavile.

Weavile's a pokémon I never really though much one of when I first saw it, but after using it on my team a few times whenever it was available in newer games, I've really come to like it. I don't have an official list of my favorite ice types, but I think Weavile would definitely be up there with Glaceon and Mamoswine for me. 120 attack and 125 speed are excellent for a glass cannon, and while the defenses are nothing to write home about, they're not as awful as you'd think a pokémon as frail looking as Weavile would have.

The next pokémon to rate is Gliscor.

Gliscor the Toxic Orb king! Dealing with it's Poison Heal ability together with it holding a Toxic Orb and using substitute makes Gliscor a very annoying Stall Pokémon to deal with. On the flip side, why is it that a fully evolved flying type can't learn fly??? It's Gyarados all over again... Anyway, I'm giving Gliscor an 8.

The next Pokémon to rate is Tinkaton.

Not at all familiar with this one since I skipped Gen 9, but on first glance, Fairy/Steel is an outstanding typing, but Tinkaton's stats are very middling, withdecent speed, average bulk, and low attack. It can, however, use Gigaton Hammer, the strongest move in its arsenal, to deal devastating damage, but it can't be used consecutively, which forces it to use weaker moves between uses. Overall, it has a great typing that can do well in a specific role, but suffers from mediocre stats. I'll rate it a 6.5/10.

The next pokémon to rate is Ferrothorn.

Ferrothorn is one of the best grass type Pokémon of all time competitively. Grass/Steel is such a great type combo that helps negate most of what makes grass such a bad defensive typing, and on top of that it has great defensive and special defensive bulk (base 131 and 116 respectively) along with a respectable 94 base attack for a bulky mon like Ferrothorn. Along with those traits, it also has one of the coolest designs of any grass type I've personally seen. Ferrothorn is one of my personal favorite Pokémon from gen 5, and is worthy of a 9.5/10.

The next Pokémon to rate is Swampert.

Even though Gen 3 boasts very strong final evolutions for its starter pokémon, Swampert has always been my go-to for its excellent Water/Ground typing, good stat distribution, access to Earthquake, and good overall bulk. The only things that hold Swampert back are its low base speed and 4x weakness to grass. But if it's in a game where its mega evolution is available, then with a little rain, Swampert's speed problem is remedied because its speed doubles in rain via its mega's Swift Swim ability. Overall I rate Swampert a 9/10.

The next pokémon to rate is Gardevoir.

Charmander is the starter Pokémon I tend to go with 60-70% of the time I play Generation I. Charmander's design and evolution line are iconic and widely adored by fans. In game, you'll struggle more if you start with a Charmander because the first two gyms (Brock-rock, Misty-water) put fire types at a disadvantage, but I never let that discourage me from choosing Charmander because it forces me to not overrely on Charmander and be smart in crafting my team (which you should always do to begin with) to make up for its weakness. Because it's not a fully evolved pokémon, I'm notngping to judge it too harshly on its competitive merits. Overall, I'll rate Charmander a 7.5/10.

Tangrowth is honestly more of the same from Tangela... Boring design, underwhelming stats, and overall one of the worst evolutions given in generation 4. Grass is already a bad type itself as it is, but then you add on the fact that it's this line we're talking about, and it makes Tangrowth and Tangela by extension one of my least favorite evolution lines in all of Pokémon. I'm going to be harsh here and give Tangrowth a 2/10. Not the worst Pokémon, but still would be very low on my list.

The next Pokémon to rate is Pinsir.

Pinsir is a pretty solid bug as far as bug types go. It has a respectable base 125 attack stat, good physical defense, a decent movepool, and also a Mega Evolution at its disposal. I've also always liked its menacing beetle like design, which gets even more cursed when it Mega Evolves. Unfortunately, Pinsir is held back by its average base 85 speed, low special defense, and pure bug typing in its regular form. Overall I'll rate Pinsir a 7/10.

The next Pokémon to rate is Skarmory.

Skarmory is that Pokémon I always forgot was gen 2 as a kid. For some reason I kept thinking it was gen 3 only because I had Gold as a kid, not Sliver or Crystal. Anyways, Skarmory historically was always a great physical wall in competitive thanks to a combination of stats, moves, and typing, being Steel/Flying. Is it one of my favorites? No, but I can at least respect what it did in the competitive scene. I'm giving Skarmory an 8.

The next Pokemon to rate is Dodrio.

While part of me always kinda liked Doduo as a Pokémon, even finding it somewhat cute with its two heads, that charm is completely lost with Dodrio lol.

Design aside, Dodrio offers very respectable attack and speed stats, each sitting at 110. It does also get access to some good STAB moves like Brave Bird, Double Edge, and even Thrash. Unfortunately, aside from these moves, Dodrio's movepool is very limited... this paired with its shaky bulk, poor typing, and limited utility leave it outclassed by a lot of other flying types that offer more or hit harder than Dodrio. Overall, I'll rate Dodrio a 6.5/10.

The next Pokémon to rate is Milotic.

I'll give Charizard an 8/10. He's cool, but he's so overrated. Charizard is like that one song that you really liked when it first came out, but you've heard it so many times now that it just kind of blends into the background. I like Charizard, but I'm also sick of Charizard.

The next Pokemon to rate is Golisopod.

For me, there weren't very many Gen 7 Pokémon I thought looked cool or interesting enough to have on my team, but Golisopod is a notable exception, being a very tanky, strong Bug/Water type with a unique ability and signature move. It's also quite menacing design-wise, which is a plus for me since I tend to gravitate toward Pokémon that look fearsome. Overall, I'll give Golisopod an 8.5/10. It's also easily a top 5 Bug type Pokémon for me as well.

The next Pokémon to rate is Noivern.

Noivern is pretty cool. I like Noibat's design better honestly, but Noivern isn't bad. I don't think I've ever used it in battle since I never owned a 3DS. I'll rate it a 7/10.

Since mr tgags forgot to put a pokemon I'll rate Noivern too.

I hate this pokemon. It looks like it should be strong, it's obtained late in the game and is a dragon type at the end of the day. But whenever I use it, it just does pitiful amounts of damage. Air slash and dragon pulse hit about as hard as a bibarel would and it's frail on top of that. Not to mention the fact that you need to get ugly Noibat all the way to lvl 48 for it to be remotely usable, so practically the whole game it is dead weight.

I do think Noivern is prime mega candidate. Give it dragonize boomburst and we could be talking. solid 3/10
