Do you set yourself any New Years resolutions?
This past year I slacked a lot on mine that was trying to be consistent on going to the gym to work on physical health. Went maybe one week a month. I was trying to go 4 days a week but went to a different position and shift where I work so I stopped going with the people I went with and just lost the motivation on it. This upcoming year going to try getting back in that rhythm and try to go back 4 days a week.

sonicmcmuffin: I would say kind of yeah on feet part. Depends on week. About half of the month sometimes only one week I am constantly up. When I was going consistently, the only problem I ever really had was leg days most of the time.

Typically, I can get most workouts I do done in an hour if I don't waste time. Depending on group 5-8, different things. If arm day 30 minutes on treadmill.

I have a couple resolutions for the new year, but since they don't depend entirely on me I can only do so much to achieve them and hope the rest can come in time.

There's another resolution, or sort of, that I could pursue. It revolves around personal growth and overcoming obstacles, but I don't want to dig any further in here. While I'm aware I can make tons of progress there, I wonder just how far I can actually get and at which pace.

Other than that, I have no actual resolution. Maybe be able to wake up early with the energy and motivation needed for a morning shift, which I've lacked an awful lot these past months, but my theory is that if I have enough work to keep me busy that will be the motivation I need, we'll have the answer right in January.

I've always thought that new year's resolutions are dumb. If you want to improve something about yourself, then do it. You don't have to wait for the Earth to be in a particular spot in its orbit to start, nor should the fact that its a "new year" be your motivation for making said improvement. If your primary reason for making a lifestyle change is because "it's a new year," then you are undoubtedly going to fail and revert back to your old ways within a month. Self-improvement only occurs when you are truly determined and passionate about becoming better at whatever it is.

Yeah, I do that. I wanted to challenge myself, to get more things done, this is my first year I'm doing a lot, 2022 I said that in 2023 I'd learn to juggle (Never happened). I did learn the piano/keyboard.

tgags123 : I do think it matters in the new year because it's a new year, and that is when you can decide what you're going to do for the whole year. You could start working out every other day staring September 23rd, but that would be odd, why not wait til October?

pokemon x : Your New Years Resolution on Vizzed could be, being an Admin all year. (:

My New Years Resolution?

Survive

Seriously though im just gonna recite what tgags said, I also find these new years resolutions to be dumb. If i want to improve myself or get into new hobbies or something i can just start anytime.

tgags123 : I need the earth to be in a specific spot where mercury aligns with mars and Orion is visible to the sky albeit off center a bit. Where my amethyst stone is glowing slightly under the moon and the stars shine into where I’m standing. I must have it that way so I can start my new years Revolution of conquering Vizzed and become the ruler of the site without hesitation. Rule with an iron fist and make my admins do all the work and make this site a pay monthly subscription. Mwahahahahahahaha.

Seriously, I got nothing. Let it be let it be. Self improvement is in the mind, not in the time. I’m already past my prime so why should I even try? I’m nearing thirty and what I accomplished is good enough. If anything, buying a house with a pool but that’s a long 2-5 year plan depending on how much money saved, the costs of houses, my credit and all that stuff.

edit: yes I meant revolution, not resolution. And the first part is a joke. Always have to add that in because some people be serious about what I’m saying

While I also think new year resolutions are dumb I think some people need a reason to start trying to change themselves like false motivation which if it works for them cool pretty sure in the past I tried and never made it longer than 10 days with whatever I was doing as if I need false motivation to do it won't last when I feel like I need to better myself I don't wait I start immediately cause if I wait till some random day I'll slowly lose my motivation waiting around when I could be bettering myself.

I have a few major goals for this year. The main one is that I want to get my website to the point where it gets 20,000 views per day and the second is to gain an additional 10,000 followers across my three main social media accounts. Both of those goals would require a lot of work and take quite some time.

I also want to begin working on my next book at some point during the year and make 1,000 posts here.

For one of my New Years Resolutions, I was going to make 600 Posts this year, and this is my progress.

87/600

Now, it's hard to do that, but it's a New Years Resolution that I have, and that I want to reach, and it's easier because I get 1 more day for it!

For my New Year Resolutions, I'm gonna learn how to become an Animator.
I've learn the basics but I haven't learn the complex stuff yet.
Another one of my New Year Resolutions is to get 100 subscribers on my YouTube channel, Swift The Umbreon. Currently I have 63, so it might be a little hard.
I got a few others like writing book 1 of my storyline and finishing a comic or at least getting half way to finishing it.

I will be honest I do not do New Year's Resolutions. Instead I like to set goals. Resolutions are easily broken. I think setting realistic goals is more doable and are more successful. I always strive to be a better person and a better Christian as a person of faith that is my goal. My other goal for this year is to finish my book.

tornadocam: Yes, goals are where it's at. I don't set them on new year's, per se, but I do think it's better to set goals and habits. Especially small, incremental goals. Instead of saying "in 2024, I'm going to eat healthy, exercise 5 times a week, loose 50 lbs, and bench my car" start with one simple goal, like "I'm going to drink at least 3 tall glasses of water each day" and then once you've accomplished that, add to it. That's why I'm not a big fan of the tradition of making a bunch of large resolutions for new years; it sets up most people for failure.

NaomiNoel : This is great. I think this is a great way to set goals, as they are very realistic, kind of like what tornadocam was saying. 100 subscribers should be very doable!

zanderlex : That is so cool that you are writing a book, have you already wrote one and what is it about?

There is a quote I heard recently that has impacted me: "A thousand mile journey begins with a single step". I think so many times we set resolutions and goals based on where we want to be instead of where we currently are. We want to go to the gym every day of the week when before we went zero times. I think setting realistic and attainable goals, such as one time a week, and building the habit up from there can prove much more beneficial in the long term. We need to know our weaknesses and limitations and start improving. Slowly yes, but still improving.

I know it's only halfway through 2024 but next year I might resolve to only order small portions and pick a place and stick with it when I go out and get food because this is such a bad habit on me that I need to break the only thing that loses weight is my wallet
