I see. I mean just wondering since, okay poor example. I’m into old love songs, underground rap and the occasional alternatives, MGMT being my favorite band. People say I’m too serious, well some say I am. I know that I’m a womanizer, or rather I know what words to say to a gal to have their interest, hence love music (or rather songs about breakup and thinking about what love really is). Other people say I’m not serious enough and joke too much, childish to say.

I grew up in the hood yet I’m living comfortably well around the white men suburbs yet I keep my roots well in place, hence my listening to underground rap. I see friends and neighbors like, country music playing I think “oh they’re country ‘heck’ “ or rock music and be like “they must have a no bs attitude” others like you said, might be the opposite. Friendly and helpful yet listens to grunge music or heavy metal, or insane klown posse (ew).

To me I feel like it doesn’t define who I am per say, but my personality gravitates to these genres more so and amplify the person I am since being a typical Latino, I express most of my feelings through song, especially love songs. (If you haven’t known, you can do some random research and notice how west coast Latinos and Mexicans used love songs to express feelings to a woman or the people they love). Though you are correct about many outside factors playing a part, but how big of a part?

That’s why I asked the question. This has been in my thought train for almost two weeks and even if it may define me personality wise, how does it towards other people? Is it wrong for me to assume someone based on their music taste if there’s no other context for me to know who they are? Am I justified to even think that way or is it just a narrow minded assumption? Those don’t answer if you don’t want to just me rambling

But overall this is an AMA so last question before I stop posting here till like next month or something. Thoughts about the growth of people living paycheck by paycheck?
