We all have tunes from back in the day, if we hear them we can remember the system, level, and game from which it came from. What system had your favorite music?

Mine has to be Nintendo, it just holds so many memories for me... and The Advantage does amazing covers of the songs.

Out of three systems, The SNES had the most memorable tunes for me (thank the many RPGs and Nintendo games). Following up would be the Genesis, then the NES.

These three are surprisingly close for me.

Genesis had the soundtrack of Sonic 3, the soundtrack of Kid Chameleon, and the soundtrack of the Golden Axe games.

The SNES had the soundtracks of Final Fantasy 3, (AKA 6) the MegaMan X games, and MegaMan 7.

The NES wins, because of the soundtracks of the 6 classic MegaMan games.

I think that nintendo has my favorite tunes.
But I can't say that I don't like the others.

It's got to be NES, mainly because the NES had
beautiful music for the Megaman games, Castlevania. and Contra. But the Super Nintendo had Super Castlevania IV, Mega Man X, and Megaman 7 while the Genesis had the Sonic games.

They're all great, but I prefer the NES
Man, does Mr.X's castle theme sound so sad, especially on the Complete Works collection

Super NES for me! Love love loved the music for Final Fantasy III, Super Mario RPG, Gaia Dark Legacy (may have got the name wrong on that last one). I think the music kept getting better with every system to be honest.

I'd say SNES just because of the Final Fantasies, Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Metroid and other games that would qualify.
But, I do love the Sega Genesis's soundtracks too, mostly the Sonic games.
And then the NES would be pretty good, but I think SNES would have better versions of those songs

The Legend of Zelda from all of the Nintendo games, especially A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time. The best in game music is Twilight Princess and Windwaker, but the best on the Nintendo music CDs are Majora's Mask Orchestrated, and ALttP Sound and Drama. Some really great remixes have been made as well. I have downloaded countless mp3 remixes for my MP3 player.

The Super Nintendo definitely had my favorite music of those three systems. Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Rock n' Roll Racing, I could list games all day for it.

The Nintendo would have to be my second favorite for the MegaMan soundtracks, and the Genesis third for Sonic.

Concerning the NES, there is one particular tune that I like even now -- Solstice. The intro and in-game tunes push the limits of the NES to the max. I would keep the game running for about 10 minutes just to hear that intro tune a few times.
